Hi All
Having a small technical difficulty here which i need a work around for.
Am trying to set up my sky/prime decoder as a set top box in MC.
Have gone thru the whole set top box procedure, and WIN7 finds the input thru S video on a Hauppaugge card.
However, it then tells me I have no IR hardware attached, so won't let me proceed. I don't have, and I don't need, the box only decodes prime so I never need to change it's channel.
Can anyone help me overcome this seemingly minor obstacle?
BTW, I have dual cards and tried connecting both IR receivers to the cards to no avail.

Sorry not a minor obstacle if you dont have a blaster.
Regardless of you whether you need to change channel MC will not let you setup a STB source without a blaster to change the channel on the STB.

Do you know/are you able to test and see if this is set up with a blaster if the blaster can then be removed without MC halting things? Am thinking if I could borrow one from someone/somewhere to set it up, then return it once all is working I'd be happy. Don't want to spend $60 for something I will never actually use

Before you go any further, there is a driver that you can use to fool mediacentre into thinking you have the blaster

LEGEND!!!! Works a treat, but setting up a bit more interesting for WIN7, and no reg hack needed.

How the hell do you guys find this stuff? I searched for hours and found nothing, 1 post here and Bang! problem solved.

Yeah, I found you didn't need the reg hack either.

I trawled the intertron for a while for this one, just such a nice fix with all the instructions. Glad it worked for you too!

Ok
So now I can watch Prime via the S video input, and have it set up as channel 5 in my lineup. However, when I try to record prime (channel 5), MC tells me i need to enter a valid channel #. WTF??
Anyone else struck this?
