Had this problem recently on an acer laptop.  It's a software issue.

A couple of days later there was a windows update that fixed it.

You could try searching for windows updates and apply them.

Thanks for the reply. I did the search for updates tonight and yes there was a few updates. I installed them and the laptop rebooted up fine, however maybe that was just a coincidence. Will see what the weekend brings.

I would say you will be fine. Mine has been fine since.

Well that was short lived. Turned on for the first time this morning, same problem.

Sounds like it might be hardware then?

Nope. It will be software for sure.
You could try contacting support to load drivers.

Do you mean contact Toshiba? What would happen if I take it back to JB Hifi, I wouldn't get charged for repair or anything would I because it should be covered under the CGA. Or is software not covered?

I did try updating drivers through Windows Device Manager and through the Toshiba website but it said I was fully updated and everything. Maybe I could try again after installing the Windows updates last night, it might of "Unlocked" something?

I didn't bother taking it back to JB on Friday because it was a Friday and it was probably just going to sit around anyway.

I currently have my laptop hooked up to my TV via HDMI, so it looks like it is definitely a software issue, now to find a fix...

Use the Toshiba display adaptor drivers for your model even if they are older than your existing.

Probably won't work but anything is worth a try. Is it a touch screen?

I'm thinking I might go ahead and reset my PC? I have everything backed up, so not going to lose anything. Might be worth a try? Or should I wait until I have tried to install a few more drivers etc?

Trying drivers is less global than resetting.

If it doesn't work then try a reset.

If it still doesn't work then retry your drivers again.

That's what I had to do after the Windows 10 Anniversary Update before I got the right mix. I say mix, because it is a usually specific tested combinations of drivers for the integrated GPU and discrete GPU. And when I say reset, I actually reinstalled Windows after wiping the drive.

I had to try three different video driver versions - the installed version, the version updated through Device Manager, and the latest vendor set. In case it helps, this version solved it for me on a Lenovo ThinkPad:

ThinkPad Video Features (NVIDIA N14M/N14P/N15V/N15S Optimus) for Windows 10 (64-bit) 5/09/2016

NVidia GeForce 10.18.13.6871

Intel HD Graphics 20.19.15.4416
