For the past few days, sometimes when I put my Laptop in sleep mode, and then wake it up, the screen won't show anything. I can hear the fans and everything in the inside working, just the screen is blank. I have to power it in and off (by holding down the power button) a few times or leave it off for a few minutes before it all turns on.

It's a Toshiba, Win 10. Currently at work, don't remember the model number. Only around 14/15 months old.

Any ideas? Thanks

Unlikely. Maybe a display driver issue. There are some options relating to power save modes but maybe just hit the the rollback button on the display adapter driver then reboot and see if that resolves it.

Is the Windows 10 build 1511 or 1607 (AU=anniversary update)? If it has upgraded to 1607 then it is quite likely to be a display driver issue. Try updating the driver in Windows Device Manager. If that doesn't work - it didn't for me - then try the latest drivers from your laptop vendor - that worked for me.

Looks like I currently have Windows 10 with 1607 yes. I tried updating the Drivers in WDM, but it said I already had the latest software etc. I then went to the Toshiba website, put in the Model/Serial Number and got a list of Driver updates, however when I went to install the Display ones, it said that software was older than what I already have installed.

Well great.

Just turned my Laptop on this morning and now it looks like the problem is happening when I turn it on in the morning too, not just when I wake it up from Sleep Mode.

Luckily I have everything backed up though.

Does anybody else have any ideas on how to Fix this or what the problem could be? Or should I just take it back to JB?

Thanks.

You could have the same problem that others have had where the temporary solution was to rollback the Anniversary Update.

If Toshiba are providing those drivers for Windows 10 then they might work. Although it is possible Toshiba hasn't tested them for the latest version of Windows 10.

Hmmm what do you suggest I do? I think I should just take it back to JB-Hifi, it's only been just over a year by a few months I'm sure. Get them to send it away and what not.

Well I cant find the receipt, but I'll take it back to JB either tomorrow or early next week. I have taken a video of the screen not turning on too.

Software issues wont be covered by warranty . Sleep issues will be software (usually)
a win10 bug , or win10 driver issue .
Fast startup mode  on 10 can also cause issues (power off doesnt completely shut it down), so that may be why it also has issues when turning on

All JB might do is wipe & reload.

Cheers for the reply.

Upon watching a few Youtube videos it looks like the problem might be some faulty RAM or the inverter backlight among other things, or just something entirely different.

Have you tried an external monitor? if all is fine with a monitor then it's a hardware issue

Had this problem recently on an acer laptop.  It's a software issue.

A couple of days later there was a windows update that fixed it.

You could try searching for windows updates and apply them.

Thanks for the reply. I did the search for updates tonight and yes there was a few updates. I installed them and the laptop rebooted up fine, however maybe that was just a coincidence. Will see what the weekend brings.

Well that was short lived. Turned on for the first time this morning, same problem.

Sounds like it might be hardware then?
