Shindig:
Paul1977: Is the RAM and HDD user replaceable/upgradeable on the Surface Book?

very highly doubt it. Wait for the ifixit teardown.

But mate, its an enclosed unit

Yep very unlikely. They do everything possible to save space and weight. 780gms for this one! With 13.5" screen.

But having said that adding the keyboard doubles that weight but very unlikely the ram is in there. There is a 16gb model btw.

Is there a super light keyboard for this one or just the heavy one?

Edit: oops answering my own question there is a 4 typecover in the store.

keyboard contains batteries and the dGPU (if you buy that model)

Type Cover is not compatible with Surface Book.

Since its Windows you could plug in any USB/BT keyboard you wanted etc

surface pro 4 releases mid November. Surface Book does not have a NZ date.

other OEMs have decided to make a different set of tradeoffs around thickness, weight, battery life. Buy a Toshiba z20, Lenovo Helix, HP Elite x2 1011, Dell Venue Pro 11 etc I'd you don't want to use a USB modem, a MiFi or tether to your cellphone.

Thanks Nathan,

So there are two batteries, one in screen and one in keyboard? How is it split (i.e. what sort of hit in running time do you take by removing the keyboard)?

USB ports are all in the keyboard right. Where is the bluetooth radio? I assume WiFi is in the screen?

That is why I am leaning towards the SP4 instead.
