I would contact the tech that supplied the patch.

Was this being done under warranty? If so then maybe give it back to him with passwords

Have not watched the video. I suggest this:
1. Create folder on desktop
2. Drag patch into folder.
3. Right click patch and choose 'run as administrator'
- if nothing happens after one minute
4. See if there are now more files in the folder.
5. Look for an exe maybe called setup or something and run that as administrator as above

Note: there are several methods to run as admin, that's easiest if available.

Shows how to check the registry was changed successfully.

Ok. So I've got in touch with the techie.

Basically saying what you guys are saying. I tried to run as admin, no dice.

I've extracted via Winrar about 20 times, no joke, and then tried to run it. Whether I run as admin or just regular user, same thing. I got a little window popping up, which tells me the file path it will get installed as. I go there, run everything, no dice.

This is so annoying. Today has been the worst for the laptop not turning in, have to go via HDMI.

Currently resetting the PC again, not going to do anything except get the file from my Email. Extract, run.

Feel like selling the laptop, which is a shame because I love it, but it's basically only working temporarily and this fix isn't installing.

There has to be something wrong somewhere along the line.

I had this problem with my dell laptop, and windows 10.  Tried for ages to work out what was wrong.  Works fine with windows 8 though, so have it dual booting to win 8.

Ok I MIGHT of fixed it now, based on what that website said regarding the registry.

Upon resetting the laptop for the 10th time. The very first thing I did was run the patch that the techie supplied too me. I put it in a new folder, extracted into that folder, and sure more files appeared. The one I thought was the right one, which was named the patch name, was labelled configuration settings but it's only 3KB and it was a word document.

I then went to the website you mentioned and also googled how to check the registry because I had no idea. The two files which that website said were meant to be there, werent. So once again, the patch the techie supplied didn't work.

I then downloaded the same file from that website and I ran it, installed it and then checked the registry. The two registry files are now there. So it looks like the patch the techie supplied was bugged in some way or another.

Fingers crossed this is the last of it, the files are there on the registry, so it's looking good.

Just tried it and it did. However maybe it was a lucky boot up. Will have to give it a couple of days to tell for sure.

Try it three times in a row. Then you'll know. Sounds like good news. I'm confident.
