Hello !

I was on 2degrees for one month and I change to Skinny Mobile 16$ prepaid offer 2 months ago. I buy a Skinny sim card in dicksmith, then I choose to keep my number on Skinny website

I use internet banking and I receive some text message to confirm operations.

It work with my previous 2degrees sim card so I know that my phone is not blocking these text...

Now I'm on Skinny Mobile and I choose to keep my number (from 2degrees to Skinny Mobile), everything is working fine on Skinny except these short number text message!

I cannot receive text from : NZ bank or overseas bank , yahoo (to confirm my email for example) , Gmail....

I already contact the support desk of Skinny Mobile but they didn't solve the problem yet, they ask me to reboot my phone and the battery. The problem is still here.

I already read post on internet about the same problem, after keeping their number from another mobile operator, they cannot receive text from their bank on Skinny Mobile....

Can someone help me please!

Have you asked your bank if they have an agreement in place with Skinny?

Hello, the bank is société générale (bank in France) I didn 't know their is an agreement needed for this kind of text... I can receive it with my previous 2degrees sim card.

Does your bank have an agreement with Skinny for these messages?

Short code / SMS services don't work across all networks, you can only use txt-a-park on Telecom and Vodafone for example.

The fact you've now said it's a foreign bank makes things a lot more complex. Foreign SMS once you port a number creates many, many issues.

Ok I don't think their is any agreement between my overseas bank and Skinny...

So maybe itI could be a better idea to ask Skinny for a new number?

Actually I already tell them on phone and email that I thought my number transfer has not be done correctly.

You missed the point, Skinny still doesn't have an agreement with your bank. They mentioned there was issues with international txt's and ported numbers, which by getting a new simcard you will avoid however you still have the issue with your Bank and no agreement with skinny to forward txts.
If it worked with 2degree's and its vital you have this functionality then a switch back to them is probably the only feasible way forward. You could ask skinny if they can get an agreement up and running but i don't like your chances.

The problem may still be exactly the same.

If the bank is trying to use the short code for all of NZ, but don't have an agreement with Skinny, it just won't work. If this the case, there is nothing you can do except contact the bank.
