timmmay: Samsung do update flagship devices, just slowly. If you really want to be on the latest version best get a Nexus though. Since Samsung devices are so popular CyanogenMod or third party ROMs (like Google edition) tend to be easily available.

Did Samsung do a GPe S5? I thought they only did a S4 variant

Yes but this only counts if you have the sm-G900F, as some carriers started distributing a variant sm-G900I which includes band 27 LTE I'm guessing there will be a fragmented rollout even within the S5 range. One of the reasons I transitioned to an iphone.
