Hi all,

We've recently started getting our usage metered (we have 2 TiVos and have been on the 150GB plan with spark for years so haven't ever worried about data as it was always unlimited), and we're about to hit our cap half way through the month.

We were looking at moving to the unlimited plan but we've had experience with the last time or 2 spark tried to do unlimited, and it was less than ideal. The lovely team on their online chat said they don't shape traffic, but I've learnt to take their answers with a bit of caution.

Can anyone confirm this is the case before we make the switch? Moving ISPs isn't an option either.
And also, do we get a static IP still included in the charges?

Well the same thing happened last time many years back, everyone said it wasn't but it eventually was. I'd rather not deal with that and it doesn't hurt to ask.

Spark unlimited is fine. No performance issues for the people I know that are on it. All able to max their connections out pretty much any time of the day except for wifi in the evening which is where the real choking happens in urban areas.

The Spark techs have stated (many, many times) that there is no throttling, shaping, or any other traffic management on unlimited plans.

I imagine they are sick to death of repeating I over and over again, which is probably why they haven't chimed in here.

i like how people seem to default to they must be shaping because my speeds are crap.

could be 10's of other things causing the issues. some of them the user can control, most are outside of your or even sparks control.

No plans come with them. They are an option.

All current Residential plans are chargeable. Some grandfathered plans were free, and still are if the user is still on them.
Business plans (except the base Biz Basics 10GB and 30GB) are free
