My Fibremax is working over Wifi with the HG659b anywhere, but not over lan. Lan1 is connected from the modem to my workstation's GbE port & green lit. It can't be a house wiring issue as the modem's internet is working in my room... it must be a PC config issue yes? I am using Win7 pro 64 bit.

Do you have any vlan tagging and/or static ip set on the LAN interface?

You likely have a statically assigned IP address

My routers network ports all died once. The lights on the router stopped working too. Stupid question you have used those ports before right?

ipconfig /renew:

 

an error has occurred while renewing the interface Local Area Conection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has times out.

 

Its not the cable or the ports, these have all been tested.

 

One thing I noticed in Win7 Network and Sharing Center, Local Area Connection is defined as unidentified network, not part of Home or Work etc. Could that have anything to do with it?

If you haven't already, try the built in Windows 7 troubleshooting tools.

 

 

In Control Panel search for 'network troubleshooting' or go into the Network and Sharing Center and choose the 'Troubleshoot problems' option near the bottom.

 

 

It doesn't look like the port has died physically as the network adapter/interface is showing up according to the status screenshot above.

I used the troubleshooter, coudln't resolve the problem below:

 

Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration - Not Fixed X

 

I also found out how to specify LAN priority over wireless but that didn't fix it (I have a wireless adapter in the PC).

 

I remember years ago (different PC) I could only ever get wired connections working by setting an IP address and gateway... I'm willing to be it would work if I did that. I've contacted Spark & they suggested trying the modem on another PC which I'm about to do, but that doesn't prove anything.

This is sounding very PC related.

 

 

 

 

ok lan does work on another win7 PC which is bizarre. I can log in to the modem and it says my PC is connected via both wireless and ethernet, so the ethernet is definitely working, it just won't allow the internet through it. i've tried disabling the firewall as well as my PCIe wireless card, no effect.

btw if it helps here is my ipconfig /all.

 

So the wifi works, lan says Unidentified Network, No Internet Access.

disable wifi then try again.

 

 

 

Looks like your connecting fine but it's prefering wifi.
