That's when Telecom's usage meter was broken if you recall?

If you download at 1MB-2MB/s 24x7 you could easily break multiple TB, that guy must buy a lot of hard drives though!

Telecom is making lots of enemies right now, and very soon many of those currently employed will also be their enemies when they get retrenched so don't be too complacent just because you work for Telecom.

well reading the gpforums, you can indeed get around the http traffic shaping on rapidshare, megaupload etc, however generally it requires a premium account. Is no good for me, im not interested in leeching as much as possible. I want reliable, useable internet.. Problem being that these guys avoiding the traffic shaping on said sites are in fact helping to cripple the internet for the rest of us.
Its only a matter of time till telecom add all the rapidshare IP's into there traffic management system anyway.

I bet their methods ain't working for them right about now ;-) Also, to get around the traffic management system, you'd need to be pretty technically advanced, I would say!

The 200 page thread on gpforums with 20 new pages about bypassing the new http shaping in the last 2 days says otherwise.

I've seen the work around and it's fairly trivial for anyone half tech savvy, no I'm not using it and no I won't give it to you.

200 page thread with 20 new pages about bypassing the "new http shaping"?? It's NOT new http shaping, it's a technical fault!

they may say its a technical fault but on the gpforums they definitely have found a way around this "fault" and are downloading at max speed. a friend of mine is on that forum frequently and is also using their work around. hes downloading at his full line speed which is about 2mb/s. i used to use the ways of using the IP trick to get around the shaping til i realised i could get full speed during off peak which is when i decided to set my downloads to automatically start at. i download a hell of a lot less now than before but still, this new shaping/fault is ridiculous. i mainly game now and the patches for the game i play take a long time (glad the patches are only twice a month if that). i've stuck with telecom through the good times and bad but i dont know how much more i can take.

on a positive note though. browsing seems fine for me no matter what time of the day it is. i dont mind that but i would like to play a decent round of my games without timing out while choosing a channel to play in

It's a pretty lame user if they're downloading 3TB per month and uploading such a small amount.

Vpn's are shaped, proxy's are no good, those two would be the most common ways.. usenet etc is also a nogo.. i may be out of touch with other methods however? I use 40-100gb a month depending on the month.
I hope they can resolve it sometime soon. A rebate? hmm ill believe it when i see it ;)

From what I've seen on gpforums there are plenty of guys abusing http downloading eg: Rapidshare, Megaupload, Hotfile etc etc, Usenet on obscure ports, private NZ only bit torrent trackers and some interesting tricks to bypass shaping.

There are definately quite a few extreme users out there milking it for all it's worth.

I used ways to bypass the throttling also
Before the big change in http speeds.
But even then I would never be able to reach 1.5TB

He must have a damn lot of TB Externals
