Have got hold of spark and after they reset it  are sending a new 1 as they said it must be faulty.

I asked them at the time if perhaps it had an update as the admin window was  showing wlan 2.4 band steering but not for 5 even though they said it was broadcasting 5 but no longer showing  Garfield 2.4 or Garfield 5

At present have 4 tablets 2 laptops a desktop a chromecast and android tv box and they all show 1 ssid "Garfield" only  which is why I asked re about a possible update>

Our Panasonic tv just went to reset its wifi after the modem reset and is the only device that quite clearly shows our ssid twice both just as Garfield no visible numbers, but when clicking on each 1 quite plainly shows 1 broadcast is 2.4 and 1 is 5 and as I type this have just checked wifi on laptop and in properties it shows 5.

It appears our modem at least has decided to automatically broadcast 1 ssid "Garfield" and allocate the 2.4 or 5 to what the machine can accept as we do have 1 tablet connected that is not dual wifi and is running on "Garfield" which is the only network available now and is receiving 2.4 the same time my laptop is on "Garfield" and is getting 5.

And just to further update my new tablet for the last few days has been dropping the wifi in the bedroom and reconnecting so thought it was problem with tab, sitting at the table tab is running 5 moved into the bedroom wifi dropped reconnected at 2.4 so it is doing what a mesh system is designed to do but it is also a bit painfull when streaming for the wifi to being dropping on and off cheers

Just resigned with Bigpipe for 12months on 100 UFB and appears I will be getting one of these (without Spark branding) soon.

A small thing, but to resign is not the same thing as to re-sign.

Nice, the bigpipe one is kinda unique. (physical device is the same hardware though)

Skinny one is closer to the spark network.

Totally missed this update myself, so only just mentioning it now.

6.00.14 has now gone out.

Very minor update, but fixes band steering not being on and the FON network for anyone with the older configuration file. (so no reset required to get rid of it)

This was pushed on Tuesday.

Looking at the log, that device is more struggling as it's terminating the connection and reconnecting not the modem dropping it.

Issue you had with the channels looks to be the update we pushed out turning band-steering on. I'll have to ask what's expected there as it seems a little odd.

Yes i did, However no Spark aren't going to send out modems to everyone. If you have been informed this please do let me know..

In your situation; an agent has replaced your modem as they feel it is faulty.

I'm not questioning that, however have confirmed your device is working on both 2.4 and 5G (band steering is on)

You have devices connected to both bands right now, so they certainly are transmitting.

As i commented on your tablet, it appears to be struggling (it's the only device dropping off like that in the logs)

In saying that; Modem may still be faulty or be doing something i'm not something weird. i trust our agent did the correct checks before deciding there was a faulty modem situation :)

Hi sorry thats not my log file and No not sure he did as he did not even comment on firmware upgrades or the fact that both bands were transmitting after we reset everything twice the whole wlan window in admin had changed and he did not know what I was referring to.

Just really want to know if seeing the 2 bands in your wifi is neccesary if the modem is controlling which devices require which service

Before we reset wlan band steering 2.4 on off etc then another panel below then bandsteering 5 on off etc after reset that all disappeared and just bandsteering on off then seprate pages for 2.4 and 5 anyway will recieve my new 1 just enquiring if anyones still seeing the multiple ssid or not cheers

Re band steering - the update did enable band steering which had the effect of only broadcasting the 2.5Ghz SSID.

If it wasn't for geekzone I'd still be scratching my head :)
