Some of us are watching this topic, but the tone has gotten so ridiculous it's no longer sensible to participate. I'm really sorry to those who kept it civil, but we're all going to have to wait and see what happens here.

I can understand where you guys are coming from. But that seems to be even more reason to take your business elsewhere. Help out the smaller guys, instead of the bigger company that's doing you wrong. I guess, I'm just a man of principal. I get poor service, I take my business elsewhere.

Is unlimited internet really worth all the frustration and strife though?.

I'm not even really sure why telecom offer these sorts of plans. Other isp's seem to offer more sustainable alternatives like free off peak or just large caps off peak. Which would seem to be a good way to give people the best of both worlds. Speedy on peak for the average user, and data mongers can go crazy off peak.

Then again a properly setup shaping system should be able to prioritize bandwidth seamlessly during those hours.

I guess that's what the problem is for telecom.

"Advertised download or upload speeds should be realistic and consistently achievable by consumers. They should not reflect theoretically achievable or maximum speeds as it is unlikely that customers will be able to get these speeds regularly given factors such as the customer’s distance from the exchange, the number of people using the service and the quality of the customer’s wiring.

Representations that give the impression that restrictions on speed are limited to the quality of the customer’s line may also breach the Fair Trading Act, particularly if the supplier “throttles” the speed of the service in certain situations or reduces upload or download speeds in accordance with a “Fair Use” Policy. "

I quote directly from the letter I got about the change from Go Large to Big Time, it specifically says "Everyone can surf and stream to their hearts content" something that is clearly untrue. This statement breaches the following legislation.

Fair Trading Act 1986
Section 11, subsection 1
Misleading conduct in relation to services,
No person shall, in trade, engage in conduct that is liable to mislead the public as to the nature, characteristics, suitability for a purpose, or quantity of services.

Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
Section 1, Subsection 8
Guarantees as to fitness for particular purpose
(1) Subject to section 41 of this Act, the following guarantees apply where goods are supplied to a consumer:
(a) That the goods are reasonably fit for any particular purpose that the consumer makes known, expressly or by implication, to the supplier as the purpose for which the goods are being acquired by the consumer;

Are some of you guys like 12?
I'm sorry but its been like six days of average speeds (50-100KB/s 400-800kb/s isn't dial up), and you're acting like the world is over. Sometimes ISPs experience problems, or tweak things and it causes unintended consequences.
And before you go off saying Telecom should of done this, Telecom should tell us that, Telecom please read this, you guys are just apologists etc, yeah I agree it would be nice, and yeah I probably am an apologist, but just for a second do the following -

Imagine you are a telecom employee.
You are at your desk somewhere doing some diagnostic on why bigtime is slow.
While you wait you decide to have a look at geekzone.
You see a post worded something like this-

Would you seriously feel the need to reply to that thread?

From what I've seen in my very short time on this forum, we have two Telecom members who are very good at relaying our problems to telecom, will help where they can, and whats more, seem to do it in their spare time.

As you have stated, you've only been on this forum for a 'very short time' and I garuntee you that you're not currently on Big Time, and if you are, you're most likely one of the lucky FEW that this is not affecting. I am 24/7 capped at 22-46KB/s . I'm sorry, but $60 a month for that??? You're just covering Telecom, they've obviously breached their agreement.

As i said in a previous post . Telecom should be acknowledging this on their website or their 08800 number, not on this forum. Is owning up to the fact their is a problem too much to ask, or us poor customers demanding too much.

Hey I'm on your side. I just find by Capping everything you prove Talkiet's (or whatever is name is) point.

And I've already quoted a section from the Consumers Guarantees Act that Telecom has breached.
But you seem to have done more valuable research than me

It IS too much to ask, because at this stage, I think Telecom know that they're legal in the poo. And also, I've never had ONE bloody apology from anyone I've spoken to, not ONE.

(I did however get told that after this is 'fixed' that I and everyone who has been effected will be recieving a rebate)... I asked for that in writing.

@Shiroshadows, I couldnt be bothered reading the last 19 pages.

To Illustrate the point im maxing 35ish kbps, running 10 threads to a server that has in the past given consistently around 1.2-1.8mbps, for the last 6 months. It has been crawling for the past 2 weeks.

Something is broken.
Telecom need to send an email to all people on the plan advising them of any problems they are having, or changes they have made.

They are a bunch of d*** heads, with this, go large, $10 unlimited texting and with xt.

I concur.
Instead of lying they should own up.
Telecom is just lucky that its on the DLow and not out in the open.

Did you end up getting it in writing or told that you would get it in wirting?
Recording phone conversations is a good substitute
