I have to say, I just compared a parallel import HTC One X to a Telecom-bought one (1.28 vs 1.26 I think) and the performance improvement from old to new was very noticeable.

Yes it would seem to me, HTC rushed out the HOX with a few bugs/perf issues, but made up by almost immediately releasing fixes, this is what is so frustrating about Telecom hold the process up so much.

Yep.... We're getting the heavies onto the device testing peeps and getting all medieval on them and taking to them with the hammers and blowtorches.

In all seriousness... The device testing guys work very hard on making sure the phones work properly on the network. So really the only reason why they would be dragging their heels are that problems have been found with the build and they need to go back to HTC to get them to sort it out.

In all seriousness... The device testing guys work very hard on making sure the phones work properly on the network.? So really the only reason why they would be dragging their heels are that problems have been found with the build and they need to go back to HTC to get them to sort it out.

That is not just good enough! I want compensation and I am going to the meida / Fairgo and Target and the human rights comission

I've just been at my local 2degrees shop where they had a One X on display, running 1.28.

For me the performance difference between my phone running 1.26 and their one running 1.28 was like night and day. Everything was so smooth and it performed flawlessly.

I don't do Twitter or Facebook, so tried ringing Telecom Mobile support about the firmware update. What a mistake that was. Once I got past the person with a Kiwi accent being understood by the person with the Filipino accent hurdle, I was told that there was no information about an update and I "should contact HTC, as they are responsible for phone software".

See bolded passages above. How did Telecom advise? I checked their website (including FAQs) before ringing.

Awww, come on now surely everyone uses Twitter and Facebook as their way of keeping abreast of the world and receiving important update messages.

Yep, have to agree, some places seem to have been captivated by the Twitter/Facebook frenzy and fail to realise that not everyone uses these mediums. Don't blame you for ringing to see what's going on.

On the same matter, I would have thought that since they have the ability to tell what phone you have they would be able to send a text message giving you, as their customer, some feedback on the state of the play re software updates etc. Especially if you bought the device off them, car dealers make contact with owners they need to advise re warranty issues, no reason it cannot be done with phones, they have all of your details. It's not that hard and would save them the cost of having to field questions via phone, Twitter or Facebook etc.

Maybe this just boils down to a Transparency/Communication issue.

Maybe the later releases of the HTC software contains radio software that conflicts with the Radio frequencies used by Telecom XT and Telecom are working their buts of trying to resolve this with HTC.

Maybe HTC are not being as hopeful as they could be, causing this delay.

Maybe all Telecom needs to do is communicate with owners of the HOX and inform their front line staff.

Then again maybe the updates are delayed just because Telecom cant be bothered.

I don't mind waiting if I know why. If it is just to maximise the radio then all good, but I would have thought a quad-band phone would have the radios sorted anyhow.

As an aside, just had a play with a SGS3 in the telecom store. Nice handset, but I'm not regretting my HOX purchase.... maybe just whose firmware it's running.

In that case, why does it take so long to add two apps (Y!T-World and Your Telecom) to a ROM.
Or are you saying they are testing the 1.28 radio to make sure it is compatible with XT?
Or does "testing it" mean it's sitting in someones in-tray while they are away on a Caribbean cruise?

Edit: Oh and could anyone who does Twitter/Facebook please update to this thread if someone from Telecom posts anything of relevance.

You can't flash the European RUU just through root, you need s-off as well. Root gives you ability to install CWM and then flash custom roms
