Grrr!

Ive had the One X since release, and Im running software version 1.26.xx, before the NZ release the Android community were raving about the 1.28.xx and 1.29.xx OTA software realeases, saying they increased performance and stability.

I have a Sense crash at least 3 times a day(usually while trying to show why my phone is better than someones iPhone), and I get a full dump and restart crash at least 2 times a week.

I love my phone, but this lack of stability is driving me nuts.

Whats further lowers my sanity, is that I went into a Vodafone store and their phone is sitting pretty with the 1.28.xx update.

Why is Telecom taking so long,

PS, sorry if this is not the best place to post this.

It's not just Telecom that drags their heels, other providers do the same.  This is just another example of why buying a branded phone isn't always a smart idea.  I've had two non branded phones now and am very very unlikely to buy any more branded phones.  The unbranded phones work just as well and get the updates much much sooner.

So far as Telecom and the other providers are concerned they're probably at the end of the update list since the New Zealand market is so small and therefore doesn't rate a high priority. The local providers just have to accept what they get and when they get the updates for their devices.

It makes you wonder why they bother having their own versions of the software for all the upset and trouble is causes.

The 1.28 update is what all of us on Telecom are waiting for.

So I guess that means both Vodafone and 2degrees are on 1.28 while Telecom "continues testing" the update.

1.28 is pretty stable, Oceana has not received 1.29 yet.

While not wanting to sound like an apologist, is the reason Telecom's update hasn't been released yet due to it operating a slightly different radio? Vodafone and 2D just operate on the standard GSM frequencies (900/2100) and Telecom may be being cautious that their radio firmware is optimised for 850. After the debacle that ASUS produced when upgrading my Transformer, I would rather they got it right rather than fast. That said if they start lagging too far behind, once a non htcdev method of rooting and flashing becomes available, that will be me and Telecom ROMs parting ways. The HTC blogpost on ICS upgrades said ROM rollouts for specific carriers can take up to 45 days.

I don't do facebook or twitter so maybe I'll go old fashioned and ring up Telecom and have a rant.

How long have you been waiting, a  bit over a month?  I know of an update for another platform that was released over 3 months ago but still hasn't been released by another major New Zealand mobile carrier.   I think your'e  being a bit harsh with your not good enough comment.

I'll make sure the waaambulance is called as well, haha

I'm thinking of just rooting mine with HTCDev.com, then running a euro rom, to see what the differences are in 1.28, just before my final reviews this weekend
