I am always somehow disheartened by folks who's only interests are rorting the system.

were not all trying to rort it, I'm looking at moving myself and wife over from 2degrees as this is a great opportunity to try the other side, but just weighing up the pros and cons, eg 20c to check voicemail on telecom whereas 2d uses your minutes which I prefer but anyway, how long do you think this offer will last as my pack doesn't expire for a month.

No doubt there will be a forthcoming response from vfone and 2 degrees who will not want telecom to walk off with some of their prepay customers.

would it work if I switched away from Telecom prepay to 2degrees/vodafone and then switch back to get the $60 credit?

Not that I'm going to do this, just curious if it was possible.

Just get one, move it, and then you have $60 for txt-a-park. Can use any crap old 3g handset since you would be in town where 2100 works fine.

Can a Telecom staff member please confirm if a number port to a SIM ordered online would go through when it was sent leaving a customer without service for a couple of days while they wait for the new SIM to arrive. Or do Telecom wait until the customer receives the new SIM and calls up and initiate the port request then?

You get an email once they process the order manually:

Your Telecom SIM card is scheduled to be connected on Xth of September 2013 at XX:XX. Your $60 credit will be applied within 48 hours of this date

Once your existing mobile number is transferred to your Telecom SIM card, your SIM card with your current service provider will be disconnected. When you receive your Telecom SIM card, if you would like to bring forward the date that your existing mobile number is brought across to Telecom, you can call 0800 55 00 45 to reschedule this.

Generally it's ~5 days once they process it before it gets transferred, as the email states you can speed it up if you contact them if you have it before the date given.

I have a 2d sim sitting in a terrible quality 3g phone (telecom R6) that I keep as a spare. Ordered the switch over ~2:30pm today and the old sim still seems to be working.

What worries me more is that throughout the whole process there isn't a single conformation that you'll actually get the $60 credit. I assume that since the promotion is still showing that they haven't run out of sims yet. Better not have just wasted $5.

I assume you are a current Telecom mobile customer? If they did not mention the $60 credit in the email they sent to you then my guess is you are not getting the $60 credit.

Nope, not with telecom. We'll see, but I'll be talking to the comcom if I don't.

I have to say its a very exact time given for the port.

wouldn't it make more sense to talk to Telecom rather than going straight to the comcom?

The comcom have much bigger things to worry about than a single provisioning error that could easily be resolved by simply talking to the company in question.

No-one gets the notification in the email straight after the order, it's only in the next email confirming the port date & time.

ive been planning to join my s2 from Vodafone to telecom but just couldn't be bothered. Well with free $60 - ill be switching as soon as my Vodafone credit runs out :D

I got the email for that sim, all good. I need to stop overreacting about things. Now that I'm less paranoid about this deal I'll be switching my main number to Telecom. With this deal at The Warehouse (!) the credit for switching over pays for the new 3g phone. And the $6 telecom txt plan will save me $48 a year (over 2D's $10 txt plan), which pays for the phone again. Since there's been no counter offer from 2Degrees I'm sorry guys, but with my low wages I've got to take what I can get. Even if that means saving a mere $48 a year, and having to watch how much I txt.

Can't say I'm thrilled about the idea of decreased battery life moving to 3g, and I hope setting a specific changeover date doesn't break the $60 credit offer.

Heck I could sell the second phone and the second sim card with the $60 credit on it for $60 and still come out ahead, but I'll probably just replace my backup phone. I hate the R6 with a firey passion.

I see we now have a "limit 3 sims per delivery address" in the terms.
