guyz:
n00dy: thats not a similar situation, the farmers issue would be a warranty claim, & I agree with johnr, insurance companies like state & ami etc although having a 24/7 phone service dont have a 24/7 replacement service, sure you can make your claim but it takes 2-3 days to get a replacement and in some cases they send you a voucher so you still have to go into another store to pick up a replacement therefore more of your time taken up. I can understand the anger at having your stuff stolen however I think the offer of a loan phone to tide you over was quite reasonable. I think that Telco phone insurance has its place but like all things there is so much fine print and conditions that you might not always get what you want when you want.

i would refer you to frietasm and paradoxm comments at start of this string regarding home contents insurance. also pre telecom days i was with vodafone/bellsouth and indeed lodged a claim with state insurance one saturday morning and after faxing police report to them was directed to nearest store that sold vodafone handsets where the store needed only to fax through details direct to state..now that was 9-10 years ago...in this hi tech age we should not settle for anything less than fast efficient service no matter what it is dont you agree? and again..if i pay a premium that covers me 24/7.why cant i demand 24/7 back up support from those i pay to provide the service?

Process
- wait about two weeks for replacement phone to arrive (with no offer of loaner - separate company you know)

I'm not sure about Vodafone's Insurance, but with Telecom Mobile, once the claim is approved the phone is either sent to repair or replaced from the Telecom Dealers stock, so there is hardly any down time.

2 Weeks seems quite a long time to get something as simple as this sorted.

Hell, vodafone's insurance is terrible.

If you lose the phone, and want to get on the air again asap, and go and buy a replacement sim card while you wait for them to sort themselves out, they will not reimburse you for that, or allow you to get a replacement on insurance to keep as a spare!

I can understand your frustration, however the dealership offering you a loan phone was outstanding service on their part (considering they don't have to do this) I used to work in a dealership and I'm sure if you had explained your concerns about that fact that you couldn't take more time off work to come back in, they would probably have couried you your new phone.

(again every store is different but you never know unless you ask!)
