Because the Motorolas are notoriously unreliable and the software crashes.

You must have fat fingers or a bad M1 as the few I have played with are quite nice, admittedly it's very square but square is very in. I have a 6275 asd a personal phone as I like the thin-ness and openness of the software.

The 6275 isn't what I would call thin...I used to own one but the software went bad on me.  Hey least there would be the option to have something other than Sanyo, Samsung and Nokia...I would go for a RAZR2 straight away

Kind of agree but there was LG and look what hapened, BAD phone! better to stick with what you know!

I have played with the two samsungs some more just now and must say the cheaper one is definatly a better buy than the 8300, much thinner and a better keypad, larger display, better camera. and the software is so almost identical it's not funny. obviously the sanyo has push to talk which is so last century anyway. the hinge does look a bit dubious quality though.

it's death knell is the ringtones are so quiet, it's impossible to hear.

The more pricey one I actually like less, the keypad is awful as it has no tactile feedback or ridges like the cheaper one.
The phone is also uncomfortably wide and ringtones are still rather quiet.

both samsung cameras are reasonable and gain-up in low light to produce a brighter image.

Did you guys get the dual mode motorola over here like in Aus - it was designed to go from analogue to CDMA, and was built like an analogue phone.  Can't remember if it sent text but I think it received? Well, that was so last century...  Um, there is a motorola car phone in CDMA, but I hear that it's very ---------  (Can't say here?)

Oh k well I got a hands on with the Samsung Envy...

It's much better than I actualy expected...the buttons are still average(better than Sanyo's IMO as they don't feel plasticy and cheap), but the device itself is pretty sexy!

Software was colourful and ok, but I could seeing it having a few too many menu's to send a TXT.

Screen was much nicer than I expected, even for a 176x220 resolution.

Much thiner as well as sexier in person than on the telecom site.

Think I may pick one up, unfortunitly the Plan I want to go on(Freetime 300) has little in the way of discount on this handset ($60 for 24months when the Fantasy is free)

Overall I was impressed.

its a colour screen, and the wall paper on the screen is blue...its not extremely easy to see, but you can make everything out.  I prefer Black and white external screens, and i didn't press any external buttons sorry...so I wouldn't know

paradoxsm,

>Keep the M1, it's a great phone. The 6650 is a total new system from sanyo I must admit, placed into a bery bad casing with a lack of memory. the the 6600 ringtones are totally useless I agree.<

Ah, not so dude...

Sanyo 6650
OSName Rex
OSVendor QUALCOMM
OSVersion DMSS6100/6.7
JVMVersion QVM4.2.1

So obviously still completely based on BREW with a J2ME over lay.

As for Ringtones, the only format available for tru-tone content on the device is Qcelp, which does not provide the complexity required for good quality, and there for there are only MIDI ringtones available go for the device.

"audio/vnd.qcelp
audio/qcelp"

Looks a bit like a case of "if you post enough times on geekzone, people will just assume I'm always right"

Lift your game dude...

"okta"? what is that? I get no hits if I Google it. I wonder if we will ever see a compact EVDO smartphone on CDMA.

Octa is a new brand being released by Telecom, it is an NZ only brand as far as I am aware. The Agent is a flip phone running mobile 6 unless it is going to be like the titan and get pushed back to wm5. Should be in stores tomorrow.
