zyo:

Recently talked to Bigpipe online chat because my contract is ending this month.

Was offered 3 months free plus a new modem for another 12 months.

Might be some inconsistency in training here.

How did you chat with them? Mike the chatbot wont let me talk to someone :(

I think you type human please and it will give you the option to connect to a customer rep.

fwiw i got a response from BigPipe Billing today.  They have offered to switch me to a 12 month contract and give me 3 months free.

Working the prices out (as I had them wrong on my previous edit), thats only an average of $5 more per month than Orcon Gig over the 12 months, or only $66 per month on the 100/100 plan which is probably better for me.

GG BigPipe, kept me as a customer :D

I wouldn't go near Trustpower - their cancellation fees are quite high. Friends don't let friends join Trustpower.

Shouldn't HD be on the list as well? Or are they okay now.

What about us customers who are never ending contracts? How the F are we suppose to get 3 months and a Router? Im still really pissy about it because Ive been with them so long and everyone else gets a deal except their long term customers. Would appreciate an answer on here about what to do. Sounds like 2 degrees is worth a look?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Did you read the previous posts?
If you are not on a contract contact their online support, re-sign for 12 months and you get 3 months free plus a router

Then rinse n repeat in another 12 months.

Just a reminder that this is what I was trying to achieve however it seems it is a hit or miss depending on who you talk to and since they wont let me re-sign to get the same deal I have no choice but to move elsewhere. The Orcon offer from Geekzone via Glimp seems to be the cheapest on a yearly basis followed by 2 Degrees.

This isn't a support channel for any ISP. If you want them to engage try Twitter or Facebook.

Plenty of ISP reps do help out on here though.

Unofficially, in their own time and generally on technical topics. There shouldn't be an expectation that you'll get support here, especially on pricing.
