Techs have had a look, can't see anything obvious wrong, cannot replicate either which makes it a bit hard, must admit I had the main YT page load in that strange way once, reset router, worked fine after that.
ok i think it's got something to do with telecom ip addresses. I can watch youtube videos fine if I use a web proxy like hidemyass.com but when i don't use the proxy and just use my normal telecom ip address, youtube doesn't even load the video, it's just a blank space.
it just happens at youtube and with telecom. i can watch videos fine at dailymotion.com. So maybe it's a telecom youtube cache thing.
Mine's been broken for a few days now, every computer at home (Macs, Windows, Ubuntu) using a number of different browsers have stopped youtub'ing. Oddly they didn't all stop working at the same time; until this evening my son's Windoze laptop was ok and Chrome on my work laptop was ok too (but not Safari or FF). Youtube works fine on my iPhone over our internet connection.
Resetting our router made no difference, we are on the Telecom Pro plan.
It seems that it's telecom's Google cdn servers (akamai?). I've been having problems resolving Google PageRank via the toolbar and accessing s.ytimg.com. If I change my hosts file to use orcon's server then it works fine.
same problem over here (telecom, chch), started last sunday, already posted with another thread, tried all types of configurations (windows, os-x, firefox, safari, ie), rebooting, resetting, reinstalling, throwing everything out of the window and bringing it back in again. nothing works. complaints (#123) said this afternoon it was an unknown issue, although i referred to the forum discussions over here and with gameplanet. would sort things out & get back to me tonight, yada-yada-yada, and guess what? he DID call back, 10.10 pm, saying that everything with my connection seemed OK and that, to his best knowledge, i was the only one experiencing this issue. HAH! that's reassuring, innit? so basically i assume all you guys are just making things up, since i'm the only one having this problem, right?
I've go the same issue - started this week on both IE8 on XP & Safari on OSX 10.6.. tried flash reinstall, router reset, clearing caches.. but the Mac loads youtube fine using XT mobile broadband! Go figure.. clearly issue not at my end.
I am having the You Tube problem too here in Hamilton. I'm on Telecoms Adventure plan and have had videos on Youtube say An error has occurred please try again later also for days. Now videos won't play at all and the all text to the left of the monitor screen. I've got the same problems on two different PC's using IE8 and Mozilla Firefox! Youtube works fine at work on Telstraclear! TELECOM have done something and stuffed it...reminds me of their XT moblie network. Also pings and latency have sky-rocketed gaming!
Ok, we're working with google to figure what is going on, in the mean time, we've made some config changes that seemed to have resolve it. If you are still experiencing this particular issue in relation to youtube can you please send me through your IP, time you experienced the issue and DNS servers you are using
After doing more reading and thinking about this issue, earlier this morning I pulled all the cables out of my router for 5 mins and reconnected (previously I just switched it off for 30 seconds).. wahoo youtube loaded correctly and actually played videos! Still feel it was something at Telecom end that caused it and will be interested to know if things are still cool tonight when i get home.
