Yes can make and receive calls. I expected behaviour to be same as 2D but I guess spark have implemented it different. Will be intersting to how it works when in areas with poor signal and WiFi.

Even in good coverage with LTE and Wifi, I would expect some wifi calling 'signaling'/packets to register the device / keep alives in case of an unexpected handover from LTE.

I queried SMS while WiFi calling was enabled with our account manager, they came back with a fix in March/April 2023!

I hate to know when overseas WiFi calling will be enabled then.

Yes - it works! I was surprised that on my iPhone, switching to flight mode does not switch off wifi or BT.

So based on rollout speed, thats more likely March/April 2024....

My work SparkNZ A53 5G just got October update this evening and still no WiFi calling!

This WiFi calling roll out is the perfect example of how a service should not be rolled out

Therr is an app that will show a setting which allows wofo preferred over lte. My Samsung A32 and S22+ not default to wofo calling
Works fine as rural but before hand where on crap lte connection even with wifi connected.

@johno1234 - Wifi and bluetooth are tolerated on most flights these days. I believe the software has been updated to reflect that.

I'm ok with it. I'd rather have some functionality than none at all. The bigger mystery to me is why NZs leading carrier has taken this long to get it started - it's not good for NZ. I guess the biggest is sometimes a late follower. Anyway I'm glad it's in progress.

It remembers what was turned on when flight mode was last turned off. If turn Bluetooth and wifi off before exiting flight mode then next time go into flight mode they’ll be off.
