That will 99.9% be down to your laptop, or the torrents you are downloading. Try using an ethernet cable (and making sure it actually creates a gig connection) and see what happens.

Also sounds like your devices only support 2.4ghz.quite likely with a 802.11g device pulling rates down even more.

If you dm me your modem serial number I'll give it a quick check for you though.

Hi there,

I've got the SmartModem and 1 SmartMesh. Very happy with these so far.

I've noticed a slight glitch with the SmartMesh interface. When you have the SmartModem and the SmartMesh together, all the maintenance is done via the SmartModem UI. Following the WLAN->Access Points menu tabs, I see the summary page of both the devices. On this page, the SmartMesh has clickable reboot, reset, upgrade options (the SmartModem has these under the Administration Menu tab). When I click the Upgrade option, a password must be entered to continue. I've tried the password for the SmartModem and the default password of both the SmartMesh and SmartModem, but none of these work.

Anyone have any further knowledge?

And is there a page to download SmartModem firmware updates from?

Hey,

That is more of an advanced user Button. used by us for Device firmware testing.

The Mesh units themselves actually pull their updates straight from the Web, so highly unlikely access would be required.

When the mesh units are in Mesh mode, they disable themselves apart from Software updates from a WebUI point of view as it replicates configuration from the smart modem.

If these are running in standalone mode (eg connected to any modem that's not the smart modem) it will use the authentication as per the bottom of the unit. and surface a webui.

Does the SmartModem also automatically update straight from the Web?

Cheers.

nope, Smart modem is pushed from the Spark network. It's only the Smart Mesh that pulls from online.

Probably a better option to move the 4G modem to the middle of the house?

Could be possible though... outside of the normal support channels.

Has anyone had success with IPv6 working on the Spark Smart Modem?

My ISP (Orcon) provides a /56 prefix but the modem/router displays a /64 prefix.

The modem/router appears to display a correct /128 address.

I have the modem/router configured for Wan AutomaticIP.

External IPv6 tests show no valid IPv6 address.

IPv4 works correctly and shows expected addresses and DNSs.

Modem firmware v 6.00.06 build 01.

As Spark does not provide IPv6 addresses then there may be no need for the modem to support IPv6.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Thanks for the feedback @BrutusNZ!

BrutusNZ:

Now you knew there was going to be a BUT..... The File Sharing feature is using SMB 1.0, Windows turned this OFF ages ago so if you want to use File Sharing you have to reinstall the SMB 1.0 Client again. Hopefully A Spark firmware update in the future will update to SMB 2.0 - 3.0

I'll pass this along to the folk, the software version isnt anywhere near the endgame for us. there are a magnitude of enhancements to land in the near future OTA :)

Makes me laugh. i had feedback ask why we would ever include a usb port, you as an end user jumped straight into using that port.

Goes to show there is a customerbase out there that makes use of that ;)

Hi, It's been awhile and I'm just wondering if there has been any progress in updating SMB on the Smart Modem. Thanks

I can't confirm that at this stage sorry. I haven't had a chance to dig deep into the change log with all that's going on.

Are your dropouts at low wifi signal spots?

Most people who complain of this are undergoing bandsteering.
