DOH

just logged in to my @xtra address and I have that email too. I haven't been a customer for years, surprised I didn't get the chop sooner. Luckily there isn't much, if anything, on flickr that I don't have in several locations so i'm probably just going to let it burn...

I presume the reason you can't do an automated transfer from the frontend (the "not authorised" error) are down to Yahoo not wanting broadband partner users transferring their flickr to a friend who then has free flickr. It makes sense really. Hence why you have to contact support.

whilst you can download pics from flikr you canonly doit one at a time.
If you want to download your entire collection you will need to use a 3rd party app

Yeah you could ditch Flickr completely, I hear SmugMug is pretty good $5 USD/month for unlimited photo storage. They have a tool to migrate from Flickr.

I've had Smugmug for many years and while they are generally good, recently they doubled their pricing for higher tier accounts and their feature development is absolutely glacial.

I still use them, but I can no longer recommend them - they handled the doubling in price very very badly. They were not honest or transparent about their reasons.

I don't trust them anymore.

Got this in after logging a ticket on Flickr:

"Thank you for contacting Flickr Customer Care.

From what I understand, you are unable to change your Flickr login ID as you are about to quit your ISP. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Let me provide you information and assistance.

I have reset your Flickr account, which will allow you to change your Flickr login ID."

They detailed exactly how to recover it - Go Flickr!

Telecom - you just haven't a clue!!

Isn't that exactly what they suggested you do?

"I found the older items in the Forum but nothing recent. I got the following from Telecom on Twitter:

"Have you looked into changing your Flickr email to another address, then simply paying the Flickr Pro levy yourself?"

Many of these online cloud businesses aren't sustainable long term, and have to put up their pricing. That is one reason I would never trust the cloud for primary storage of things. You always have to have your own local copy of things. This is one reason I am not a great fan of proprietary online clouds services that have no way to use them off-line, such if the company stopped trading.

+1 NonprayingMantis.  I fail to see here how Telecom have done anything wrong but give you free Flickr Pro service for a few years when you shouldn't have had it.  Yet you're still not happy?

It was a manual reset they had to do in the back end (as others have also stated) - it cannot be done from the front end UI.

Well - as the primary point of (local) contact I would have actually expected more support and help than just "spend more with Telecom". That was my complaint - not the fact that I've had the service - duh

+1 . Although what I think what thy were wanting was a quick and easy way to transfer the account across so flicker bills them directly.

if one reads the original post, it reads like this:

someone appearing to be an active telecom customer complains that telecom is breaking their promise of free flickr pro

but it can't be, and further on we learn that someone actually is no longer a telecom customer, and for a while has been knowingly/unknowingly using a service they are not paying for

when the landlord returns from vacation to find that there are squatters he coldly tells them to bugger off

that's what i read from this thread
