tardtasticx: If its like  the past ones I assume it'll be available launch day. Went to the iPhone 5 launch at the Victoria St store in Auckland CBD, was an interesting experience.

Thinking of buying from Apple directly this year as not too keen on signing a contract. But if Spark offers it on prepaid/pay monthly right away I'll switch to pay monthly and stay with them most likely.

We will offer 12 or 24 month interest free. I think that also applies if on Smart OneBill, I'll need to check that (as smart one bill is on the account)

I was more meaning the ability to buy the iPhone 6 on open term/pre-pay on launch day. I'm not too keen on the interest free deferred payment, but I used that when I got my 5 on launch day.

If the iPhone 6 isn't available to prepay/open term customers immediately, when will it be?

I'm not sure on that Sam, I will try to find out. Depends on supply. I recall when we first did the iPhone (4S I think), the supply we got was good, and the second wave of supply was high, this year I dont know, and if I did I couldn't say. I will see what info is available. FYI, staff cannot buy on release, so that the public has first dibs.

The only info at the moment is 26 September release. As to any initial restrictions, no info as yet I am afraid.

Would there be a register of interest prior to the launch? or do we just find out the day before launch like iPhone 5s?

You mean pre orders. When we know, it will be publicised, and I will try to post here when I know more.

If you have a contract with us, or a mobile interest free payment, you are tied to that based on your account number with us. The IMEI is not linked. You are linked, your account number . In other words the contracted etc is between you and Spark not the imei and Spark

Hope that helps

I think I worded that rather poorly.

I have two separate Smart One Bill accounts, that have nothing to do with each other at all.

On account A, I have an interest free 5S which still has a while to go. What I want to do is get a 6+ on account B and then swap the phones around. As it says here: http://help.spark.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/21231/~/interest-free-mobile-phones-(deferred-payments)

  • The interest free mobile device must be on a Spark postpaid plan until the device is paid in full
  • Disconnection of the mobile from the Spark account will result in the remaining installments to be due for immediate payment
I don't want to get a 6+ and swap them around only to have to pay off both phones "immediately".

If I understand you correctly, you can pay for the iPhone 6 on Account B and use the mobile number from Account A in the actual phone, i.e. swap the SIM from iPhone 5S to the 6+.

Current Phone:
- Android: Samsung SM-G900F Galaxy S5 (XT)
- Win Phone 8: Samsung ATIV S (XT)

Current Tablet:

- Acer Iconia 7" Android Tablet

Swapping the sim cards over isnt such a biggie, the only thing that would void is mobile insurance if you decided to get it at the time of purchase for the i6.

and it is highly likely given that the i6 being as popular as it is may not be available to smartonebill customers (as it was with i5), and only available on a $39 ultra plan or higher (ultra $39 is open term)

When I went to get iphone 5s on smartbill interest free they didnt give it to me they said it has to be on a ultra plan. I am sure iphone6 will be available to those wants to go on Ultra open term plan with 24 or 12 months interest free plans.

From the official Spark FB page:

"The iPhone 6 is en-route and will be available for pre-order at Spark from 12:01am Friday 19th September."

I was told it's open term plans, $39 and above. So not really a contract. Just no prepay.

deeprandhawa, I misread your post, taking it as you wish to buy a 5S now, but you in fact meant the situation you had last year?  There have been restrictions on past iPhone launches, and once stock has replenished enough, the restrictions have then lifted. I cannot advise what the status may or may not be this year yet, I am afraid for the 6 and 6 Plus.

I was told the same, and also they do not know whether signing on a contract would give you the normal subsidy for iPhone 6 preorders.
