Jase2985: odd it only happened to a few people who posted

It's not odd. Even understanding what it's very likely to be now I woudn't have expected it to affect a lot of users.

I'm trying to get a very complicated set of dominos setup to knock over the issue for good, but it's tricky.

Cheers - N

I have a similar issue where I cannot direct download links on Uploaded.net properly. I have to open each link in a tab and click on the download button. I should be able to highlight a bunch of links and have my download manager start downloading. I have tried about everything to do a process of elimination(disabling adblocker, antivirus, firewall, factory resetting modem etc). I contacted support at Uploaded.net and Internet Download Manager and both said the problem was at my end. I borrowed a laptop and it had the same problem. When I return the laptop I'm hoping to test it on TestraClear connection. I'll try a VPN also if I can.
After coming across this thread I'm becoming more convinced Spark is the problem.

What I got from another user is the international Caches IP requsting IP Address round-robins to various IP Addresses in the 210.55.212.0/24 (ie 1-254) address space

So the 1st request comes from .1 and the 2nd comes from .2 etc etc (or randomised).

I presume mediafire seeing the CAPTCHA from 1 IP Address and then the request from a completely different IP Address and as the 2nd IP Address hasn't done the captcha so  it won't sent it.

I have no idea how Spark does the caching (as I have never worked for them and I have no idea what hardware they they) but it seems they need something which tries to keep the same requesting source IP Address per destination address..

WHy this affects some customers and not others.. I have no idea.. only the inner-geeks inside Spark will know and they will never tell.

_OR_ I could be completely wrong :-)

Just an update to my post above.
Static IP fixed my issue also. Third time lucky with my emails I got someone really helpful who offered to set up a temporary static IP for testing purposes.
The only problem now is whether they expect me to pay monthly for a static IP to fix a problem at their end. Otherwise Bigpipe here I come :)

Just came across an older locked thread that appears related. Exactly the issue I was having. Unfortunately no idea if it was resolved.

So you are forced to pay for a static IP to bypass this?

They told me they are working on it and have me on the static IP temporarily(will be credited back on my account).
Since I imagine Spark has the biggest ISP market share and Uploaded.net(the service I'm having the problem with) appears to be the most popular file locker, this problem probably affects many other users.
They just won't realize Spark is the problem. They are aware of the posts here concerning this so I'm hoping they will work that little bit harder to resolve it.

https://www.spark.co.nz/form/1,,5208,00.html

Click on the Spark Broadband Plan box - all plans with an asterisk can have a static IP for free (but you need to apply for it - it is not assigned automatically on those plans)

I imagine a lot of the plans that qualify are no longer available unfortunately.
