UFB installation is nothing like that. Very fast installation when they turn up. Process takes a bit longer in the background. Happy with lighting speed :) Not happy with spark router :(

One of my pet hates is tradespeople who aren't on time and never contact you to let you know. It's 7:55am, waiting on the contractor whose appointment was 7:30am. This whole process is like pulling teeth. It should hopefully be worth it though.

Having spent the last 6 months doing home renos I have a reasonable appreciation for late tradespeople, but it doesn't piss me off any less. Still waiting on the installer, an hour late now. UFF are unable to contact him (does he have a cellphone?).

again this is pretty standard for a fibre install.

think you need to lower your expectations a little

They communicate via smoke signals.

Give him a chance to light his fire, its a bit damp this morning.

How am I supposed to know what to expect? No one tells me anything, except that I have an appointment for internal install at 7:30am.

Call the service company with your job number or anything that may help them identify your job.
They will get an update.

The guy eventually arrived. Prior to that I phoned UFF and they couldn't get in touch with him.

Not going to be able to use the fibre anyway without a router :(

Haha try living in Australia, or some other bigger countries ... about a gazillion times worse. That's what happens when decentralization, outsourcing, etc happens, because the system is too big to be managed by one team, one office.

I agree it could be better ... but then I'm not the customer service quality control manager of Spark (your ISP)/Chorus (owns the fibre)/Downer (or whoever does the install)!

The internal install is all done, just waiting on a router.

I take it that you've contact spark to get their outsourced company to send you the router?

Yes, according to the person on the online chat they were supposed to send it weeks ago but didn't for some reason. So now I'll have to wait until next week. Presumably billing on my account doesn't start until I'm finally connected.

Ask on the trade section of someone will lend you theirs. Or if you have money go buy a proper one for around $350.

I can wait, surely the router won't be more than a couple of days away? I have my (slow) ADSL in the mean time.
