I would have to say, stopsell areas are far less common. Newest numbers i've had is only 2% of all offered areas are in stopsell.

there are 200 odd towers due to be deployed over the next year or so and more than that in network upgrades, so Wireless options should be available in most places.

along with that chorus is what? 70% through their rollout? Enable have completed theirs as has Northpower, UFF is looking pretty good. Alternative options are becoming more available :)

I suspect in the wireless sector as more upgrades come up, we see larger bandwidth allocations opening up.

Yep, it's an unfortunate change but required.

I've passed my feedback on it personally, I'm one of those only option is copper customers afterall.

There is no change to skinny/BP at this stage.

I fully expect views on it will be very scattered views about this.

My best tip for it would be, if you have availability of another service, say wireless or Fibre May be time to start getting ready to jump across.

Things like one day installs and work with LFC's such as chorus are bringing down installation times without it purely being a lets rush through with cutting corners,

Another option is the two fingered salute after all there is no shortage of retail providers.

Its the cost of 1 coffee per month. :-)

hardly a dealbreaker , although it will trigger some to look into cheaper options .
I'm another stuck on copper, Ak suburb & no fibre for another 2 years, no wireless internet option .

Yes its one coffee per month.  But if any other company increased its prices at 3-4x the rate of inflation (citing cost pressures) there would be outrage.

I'm surprised that it hasnt even been mentioned on the NBR.  If it had been Voda or anyone else.....  Anything anti-Telecom/Spark doesnt get mentioned there anymore.

Most other ISPs (definitely 2d, Vocus and Vodafone) have a clause that say they can only increase prices for your service while in contract "as a result of a change in the price from a supplier for an input required for your Broadband Service" (Slingshot). Since Spark's increase isn't related to such a change, you would have grounds for an early termination without penalty if you wanted.

I’m waiting for Voda to put up their prices for cable customers too, because “chorus costs have increased”

Wait for that head banging moment.....!

Lol, he was kidding - the joke there is Vodafone doesn't use Chorus for their cable product.

Doesn't look like it's got anything to do with a Chorus price hike, just they're trying to nudge people to wireless, or fibre, and in meantime make extra profit from sticky customers - then use some of that money to entice new customers with $1000 plus TV for $240 or 6 months half price broadband.

And what do they think those people will do when 12 months is up and they're paying more then everyone else? If people think ahead, they'd take the $20 payment for TV over 12 months and not $10 over 24 months)

I noticed that clause in my Spark contract terms.

I'm about 18 months into a 24 month contract, and I'm thinking about leaving. It should get me out of the $199 early termination penalty?

I have to pay this and it pisses me off. I can't get fibre, much as I'd like to. Bizarrely when I called Spark to complain they told me I could leave and find another supplier. That's absolutely not the way to run a business (although it's typical for New Zealand).

I used the online chat - they offered to waive the early termination fee or a $10 per month discount to stay with them. I took the discount.

That's interesting. Did you have to commit to a new contract term to get the discount, or do you just continue with your existing contract?

No mention of a new contract term. I still have 10 months or so left.

I wouldn't mind except that they're offering new customers 50% off for the first 6 months. The idiocy of this company in regard to retaining customers is mind-boggling.
