Information overload. The point of the ad as I see it is to reassure people that the worst is over and it's safe to come back.

There's plenty of time in other ads to talk about the faster network.

I don't mean they should pack everything in to the same ad, that would be messy. But they haven't done anything new for 6 months now while fixing the problems. Great that they are fixed, now it is time to show us the good stuff - get back to why we should use XT.

ronindanbo: ummm dont we already have the legal right to return if not satisfied anyway? Bloody Telecom Marketers were useless when I was there and still are, as I told someone for a Telecom servey call 'it will tale you guys giving me really big lollies to get me off 027 and onto XT' also stated I was perfectly willing to dump Telecom as soon as they switched off 027 which is a nice solid network.

XT = 027..

If they had a cheap phone without R in the name I might consider it, but not with their current selection of handsets and subsidys. How about telecom make some news with some decent deals?

I like fishing. I just wish Paul had waded on in instead of saying dry at the waters edge.

XT Rocks, I wonder who will get the iPad rights...

actually the prefix could mean ANYTHING now there is number portability :)

there are heaps of good cheap parallel imports you can get, I would never recommend buying from a telecom store because they're WAY over priced (unless you've got some kind of special deal going on due to getting a contract)

The subsidized price is nothing special, and the buy out price one you are out of the first month is astronomical with telecom, makes vodafone prices look sane.

Tempting way to get a nice phone to try for a month, but I fear that there would be some hangup with the return of it that would mean I would be stuck with a plan I didnt want and a sub-par phone for another 23 months to try it just to get a fancy phone for a month.

Would be really screwed if you dropped it etc so couldnt return it.

Here is the offer with the terms and conditions

Risk Free Trial Terms & Conditions

  • You can claim a refund once for each connection you make under the risk free trial. However, once you make a claim, you cannot make any further connections to XT for three months and, after that, any subsequent connections will not be eligible for the risk free trial. Early disconnection charges will not apply if you return your phone or T-Stick within 30 days. Account credits (if any) will not be available if you get a refund under the risk free trial. Early disconnection fees (if any) will apply if you end your existing CDMA contract early to take up this offer. Accessories, Netbooks & second hand devices are excluded

  • Telecom terms and conditions, charges and credit criteria apply

So no rotating you phone for free each month like the last T-Stick trial

Blimey some of you folk are just way into over analyzing this (and wanting free stuff).

Just take it for what it is... The relaunch of the XT network, with the Boss putting himself on the line in a way we haven't seen before in media, and for the rest of the people that can't see the size of his cajones they're simply saying if you're not completely satisfied after 30 days there is a money back guarantee... no questions asked.

What better way to re-launch.... Smart marketing, well done Telecom. (But I suspect somewhere in their organisation there'll be a few butt puckerers)

I think the add was quite good overall - gave Telecom a human face again. And was hilarious when Paul Reynolds feigned bad connection/poor reception! Very brave!!

oh yeah, his different accent and the "poor" reception were the two best things in the ad!

(and the great deal too? yeah that too)

I just saw the ad now as well.  And overall I think it was good, I'd put fair money on the fact it was a Saatchi's Special, it certainly had that ring about it.

I have to say it's the most self-deprecating he could possibly be about the whole saga.

If it seriously changes perceptions of XT we will wait and see.  But there certainly were a lot of bold statements in the advert.

I say +1... But I am biased as I love XT data, right now I couldn't do my job without it.
