Scotty1986: Hi all, the Chorus tech just left a hour ago after setting up my Vdsl. I'm in Ngaio Wellington. I used to get speeds of 12 down and 1 up. The tech was not extremely helpful and did not seem to know a lot about Vdsl. His first speed test showed 13mb down/1mb up. He called up his office who said I'm getting 20md down and 7 up. My modem says I'm getting 25/10. He left saying there is nothing he can do. Currently my speeds are around 2mb down .5 up. I'm using the Telecom supplied modern. This is the info I get from my modem Any help would be great.
jay63:matt188:jay63: Good timing. Just had a call back from very helpful Complex Technical Support rep. The Telecom Provisioning Team had to update a setting from their end as I was still Throttled to ADSL speeds even with VDSL connection. This was done just a few minutes back and I re-started my modem.
First test on Telecom Speed test site was 33.8 down and 9.83 up - huge improvement from 22/1.
The Support rep suggested you get your case elevated (via Broadband Support) to the Complex Support team for resolution. He is sending out a note to all the support reps that their may be a common issue and letting them know how to resolve.
Best wishes for a speedy resolution.
Glad you got yours resolved :) Just got off the phone from Telecom, apparently my job is still open so thats why I'm not getting VDSL speeds yet. They reckoned it is usually 24-48 working hours to get it closed off, not the 4 hours I was quoted. I guess I'll just wait it out a bit longer, and try again tomorrow afternoon if no speed increase.
Just as an FYI. I had the "open" order reason yesterday morning and they supposedly closed it late morning Saturday but speed didn't increase until today - Sunday afternoon - when Provisioning team updated some setting. The website says 12 hours until fully hooked up to VDSL speed but seems to be taking quite a bit longer than quoted for the lucky few of us with installs last week.
Hope it resolves soon.

If you are still getting a 13/1 speed test then you would still be on a old ADSL profile on the BNG, ring up the Broadband helpdesk on 0800 225598 and say that you have just been moved to VDSL but the Speed plan hasn't been moved from the ADSL plan to the VDSL2 plan. They should be able to run the order on the spot (or ask to get transferred to CTS and they will sort it).
Normally when the service order is complete with Chorus the Broadband folks move you onto the right plan, but sometimes this gets missed.

Will do some speed and ping tests tonight and post a comparison.

can you please do speedtest in US (california) prior VDSL and after. just to see the difference and see if netflix and hulu will really take advantage of it.

It MIGHT give an indication, but speedtest.net results and HULU/Netflix aren't comparable sorry.

but still that will give us idea the international speed between adsl and the new vdsl. Just really want to check if there is advantage with international connections.
Can all please post your speedtest in US (if are already on vdsl).
thanks
