I'm getting intermittent internet dropouts. The devices say "no internet" for a bit and then are fine. The WiFi connection is constant though. Log shows nothing.

Router version: v6.00.15 build05
Mesh version:  1.00.04

Do you have an external drive attached to your modem? Mine does exactly this if I do, and have file sharing enabled,. As soon as I disable that, the connection stabilises

Not yet. I was thinking about attaching one. Hmmm....

Yeah, i can see what you mean.

I've got a feeling it's trigging UDP loopback protection, but i'll ask that it's checked.

Thank you.

It's also affecting other apps. Panasonic's "TV Remote 2" cannot find our TV when connected to the Mesh unit. It must be doing a similar UPnP/SSDP search to find the TV.

Has anyone got a link to the newer firmware as even the Bigpipe one keeps dropping Wifi randomly.

Contacted Bigpipe technical support and they sent me a template response.

We're 100% on board with improving WiFi performance for our customers. Keep an eye out. ;)

Hi @BigpipeNZ can ask your technical team to have a look at this thread because I'm facing similar issue and they have told me wifi isn't under support coverage.

Can anyone tell me how to set up my Smart modem as just a wireless AP? Do I just switch off the DHCP server and NAT function?

My Solar system has been unable to send data through to the central server, and I am starting to think it may be the modem at fault, as the solar IP was there but has disappeared again, and other devices are disconnecting. I have my old Edgerouter X that I could put back in the circuit to check.

If I reconnect my ER-X to the ONT, and then connect up the Smart modem to the ER-X with DHCP and NAT switched off, will it work just as an AP, and let the ER-X take over routing duties?

thanks

Peter

Yup - DHCP and NAT off.  However I do have some strange issues using the Smart Modem as a AP - when connecting my laptop to it I cannot RDP to other machines on the LAN, nor open pages like my video camera software.  Everything works fine when connected to the other AP's (Unifi), and I have been through the menus on the Smart Modem a few times but cannot figure out why.

Oh, and the Smart Modem is FAST for Wifi!

@hio77 I attempted to DM you just before but not sure if it worked. I kept getting logged out every time I press send, and it looks like it went through on attempt 3, but nothing showing in my outgoing messages, so unsure if you've got it. Would you mind letting me know if you got it OK? Thanks. :)

Excuse my ignorance, but if I switch off DHCP before I then put the ER-X into the circuit, and I run into problems, and want to reactivate the Smart modem, how do I reconnect if it is no longer handing out IP addresses. I am just worried I will get into a situation where I can't get back into the admin menu. If I temporarily have both the ER-X and the Smart modem attempting to do DHCP and NAT will the system go AWOL?

You are turning off the ability for the Smart Modem to GIVE OUT addresses via DHCP.  I assume you already have another device on the network to do this, like the ER-X?  You can always assign a static IP address to the Smart Modem (which is what I have done) and this way it is always accessible.

Thanks for letting me know @hio77. That's bizarre. What could be preventing it going through? I have enabled private messaging. Do you need to be a subscriber to DM, or can you only DM geekzone friends?

I'd try logging out or a different browser.

I had geekzone do that at one stage. It was some sort of weird cookie issue in the end.
