samdouglas: Are the DNS servers different for VDSL? <snip>

These DNS servers are correct :) - Speeds will improve once Chorus sign off the job and we put you over to the VDSL profile on our end. If you DM me your landline number I can check this out for you.

A Chorus Tech has just left from an install at my place, maybe he's on his way to you ;-)

My speed has doubled on the Download but nothing yet on the Upload.? I must not have switched over from an ADSL profile to a VDSL profile yet.

Bridging the TG589vn v2 was a breeze. No hassles.

Awesome to hear - our systems should switch you over to the VDSL profile once Chorus sign off the job :)

Now that I am bridged (TG589vn v2 > PPPoE > ASUS RT-AC66U)
How do I view the modem stats?

With my Draytek I just entered the IP address of the modem. Entering the IP of this modem does not result in a connection to the modem.

Cheers.

I have my third appointment scheduled for Saturday after the first was a no show even after I phoned the night before to confirm it was happening as I don't like taking days off work for nothing, and i'm not sure what happened to the second appointment so hopefully Saturday actually happens.

Very frustrating process, firstly my filling out the form on the Telecom Website last week seemed to achieve nothing.

A phone call to what sounded like an offshore call centre achieved nothing (except being told my old account number was invalid, and being given an account number that appears to mean nothing).

Today (Tuesday) with no feedback I finally got put though to a very helpful lady who went through a set of questions and declaration questions- and advised my Chorus installation date of next Tuesday. But then a call back with the message that as my number had been "ported" I would have to go through it again in a call from Tier 3.

Again through similar declaration and other questions with the Tier 3 gentleman, and I have a text that an install (voice line ?) is due on 22nd. But no idea when I will have VDSL (hopefully if the number is ported back on 22nd, Chorus can visit on 23rd and I can get ADSL, then VDSL)

Very frustrating, only the determination that I really want VDSL has stopped me throwing up my hands in frustration and giving up.

Anyone else having the same issues, why does number portability make things so hard ?

Thanks and regards

samdouglas: Are the DNS servers different for VDSL?

My Router I have populated as:
DNS 1
202.27.158.40

DNS 2
202.27.156.72

Yet the new VDSL router i just got today has the following hard coded:

DNS 1
122.56.237.1

DNS 2
210.55.111.1

It seems to be causing lots of 'website not found' issues - so i am going to have a play around with both - but anyone any idea?

The old DNS servers are a different platform. The newly automatically assigned servers are the best ones to use and there is geobalancing to direct you to the closest DNS server as primary.

The old ones will work fine if you hardcode them somewhere, but I don't recommend it.

Cheers - N

Question about the modem. I have set up the supplied vdsl and is running fine on adsl, my vdsl install is due tomorrow morning. Are there certain settings in the modem i have to do for this or is this done by tech? All i have done so far is set my home network up ( changed network name).

Got called by Telecom today regarding my application for VDSL.....and no good :-(. They said my location was too far away to get a good enough signal. Really sad as was looking forward to something faster than my current setup, and fibre optic is not due in my area till 2016! I'm one sad Palmerston Northian lol

Hi Guys,

Got the VDSL socket installed by Chorus yesterday.

Broadband light is solid Green on the modem but no sign of light for internet. The modem did try to connect and ended up with an error "Concentrator not  reachable"

It's so close getting the VDSL yet so far :) I don't know why the technician didn't stay and actually make sure it's working :(

Telecom believed Chorus may mismatch something in the exchange. For me it seems for an authentication issue.

And for some reason a window pop up near my clock (win 7) with "extra log on may require" every time I restart the modem.

Anyone had the same issue?

Thank you
