i believe other sanyos with similar software e.g. 7500 and 8400 can do it. you just hold down the P2T toggle switch for about 2 seconds. It does make a loud beep down the line which the other party can hear(a privacy feature i guess) i found it most useful when trying to decipher a reps name when mystery shopping.

IIRC, NZ law states that it is perfectly legal to record a telephone call, so long as one of the parties is aware of it being recorded.  This means it is illegal to tap a phone, as neither party involved in the conversation will be aware.  But you can record any call you like, so long as you are on it.

The answer is:  There are still monkeys and apes for the same reason that there are still British, even though my great grandfather was British and I am a Kiwi.

The March issue of Consumer has a CDMA mobile roundup and gives this phone its top rating (despite price).

But, according to http://forum.nokia.com/devices/6275, it has a 2 megapixel camera, with a resolution of 1152x864. That is not 1, not 2, megapixels. Can anyone explain this?

Perhaps they are taking a leaf from the book of cheap LCD screen manufacturers and counting the seperate colours as individual pixels :)

I have now replaced my Samsung 531 with one of these, mostly for the compatibility reasons with the 6234 and that the samsungs bluetooth audio was badly distored.

IT's a good phone but may have some build quality problems. First one had a pinky display and it crashed repeatedly, The second (exchange phone) had a faulty camera and bad fitting case. I have had these replaced and now I have a good one. The GPS in my new one is also very sesitive and I never get UI crashes.

I have written a review on it and others recently but now it seems the Telecom network has some mms (photo messaging) issues.

If I was to go for any phones through Telecom, It would be this or the Sanyo 8400, Both solid performers with coverage, SMS, and voice calls though the 6275 does have a funny "digital" noise through the earpiece and HFspeaker on calls.

*Edit "Samsing 8400".. whoops... lol.

Has anyone tired to convert a DVD and watch from this phone? I would like to know what video size and format you used - The best I have done so far is 176 X 144 using 3gp format - I cant get the video any bigger or running on mp4?

It would look great at full screen landscape!!

well ... I got the phone...

I  had it a week, 1 in 3 times I answered it, it crashed.

The 12 day battery lasted 2 days tops (no I wasn't making heaps of calls)

the keypad and general phone construction is cheap and plasticy

The screen is very nice, but the camera is 2Mpx of grainy out of focus uselessnes.

and even if all these fancy gadgets did work - it's useless as a telephone. I notice no one every really talks about that on here.

I had it replace with another - but the same problems.

I've now returned it altogether and gone back to my old phone. At least I can take calls on it.

Timsimpson, You got a bad one, just like my first two as I warned on!

My first one was like that, constant crashes, Second bad camera, etc, third, Really good. 1 crash in two weeks.
Audio is below par, outgoing very good, incoming not so hot, digital noise interference.
Camera is great in good light, better than 6265, poor light, pretty pus poor, worse than 6265.
GPS is fantastic!, works anywhere with even moderate roof coverage (inside), Even the huge garmin aint as sensitive!
Keypad on mine is good, mates just awful.
The back panel of mine squeaks, ugh.
battery life is 2 days, I aint fooling anyone here, it's got a lot to run remember!

But so far it's been among the best CDMA phones I have had, many are just awful piles of $%4

PS, what was your old phone?

So which is it? Really good, or it crashed? Any crash is unacceptable in my opinion.

1 crash in 2 weeks is still aweful - and with an $800 cellphone there is no excuse for 2/3 to be crap out of the box.

Nokia in the last few years have really dropped the ball. my sanyo has never crashed, and I know heaps of people who use them - including all the telecom sales people - and swear by them. my work has a deal where I can only have a nokia - and even though it was free for me, it just didn't work as a phone.

oh well

btw - old phone is 3586.

Though it crashed while I was doing a special "dicataphone" java application, which could not find the a:\ drive (the handset does have a pseudo c:\ drive though!) The samsung 531 crashed 4 times in 4 months too so it's not alone, and we won't even start on the motorola.. ew.

Ahh yes, the indescructable 3586... Good loud ringer too. That should never let you down, I have a 3585, it's brother with the mono display which you can also see in sunlight!
