Cokemaster....Despite quoting the 'Rogue' thing again, you still didn't clear up for me why it's there, and what it is.   Not on my screen, anyway.

With regard to the Topic Title, I stand by it.

When Telecom had the chance they backed the wrong horse.   [In my opinion..  I appreciate that it wasn't the wrong horse in any of your opinions. ]

Fine.

The second bone of contention is their Landline service, particularly Broadband speed, charges, and availability......and if you all think it's great, then that's fine too.

But not in my book.

Yes. I do stand by that.    I feel they are facts.  At worst, they are an extremely arguable case.

The 'rogue' title was adapted because of a certain member labeling a fellow moderator brad, a rogue moderator. Hence rogue.

Facts are usually indisputable statements (or authoritative) that are usually backed up with numbers or proof. Contention rates of 100:1 (just a figure made up) could be used for instance to support your claim but something like 'I feel that the service is poor' is an opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and thus, we aren't here to convert you or force our opinions on you. However if you broadcast something that is clearly not true and force your views on others - then expect a reaction from people.

I don't feel they are great. In fact we use TelstraClear cable-modem here because that is a good product. I use both Telecom (data) and Vodafone (voice) for mobile communications. So I know well both sides. Also, I've been working in Telecommunications for longer than ten years.

Cokemaster's post is a great summary: tell us your opinion, label it as opinion and everyone will debate. Try to force us to accept something as fact when there's no backing and flaming will ensue.

As for the rogue, the nickname is the user name - cokemaster, freitasm, etc. "Rogue" is just a label, a tag. Like mine ius (currently) BDFL. Subscribers can change the tag at will. Non-subscribers don't have tags.

Happy stay!

I'm sure you could do a deal with the store, and for $10 you'd get the lot.

A never ending supply.

You could probably sell them on 'Trademe' for $5  EACH and retire!!

No, Telecom's customer entrust Telecom to environmentally dispose of these products, and they may contain personal information from the previous user. Also the fact its just simply not worth the time of day for $10.

Once the phone enters the bin it is property of Telecom New Zealand (well this is the offical word anyway) and should not be given to anyone. Telecom is not in the business of making money from second hand and obsolte mobile phones.
