Mixing spark mesh and google wifi could create extra issues, but your whole experience centers back to clearly indicate one issue we are very closely working on with our vendor.
I'm hoping to have an update i can share soon...

@VDSL Cat ... I am the first to admit I normally have a very low tolerance for being an unpaid beta tester for new product launches, I have returned more than one product due poor software (not mentioning names cough dish cough tv cough) that does not 'just work'
I am looking forward to the update. Without this discussion and your input, the Smart Modem in my house would have been thrown under a bus weeks ago, so keep up the great work, and if your boss does not 'get' the importance of this kind of community engagement is, give me his number......
Cheers

Thanks for that - I am aware of double NAT but not other issues. Look forward to your update.....
Cheers
Is the Spark Smart Mesh compatible with the Big Pipe version of the Smart Modem (connected with Ethernet)? My assumption is yes but the guy at the Spark store didn't seem to think so. Are Spark stores the only place you can buy these?
Is there any need to turn down the transmit power of 2.4 Ghz so it doesn't dominate the 5Ghz on the Smart Modem...or does band steering get around that requirement?

i Don't believe so, i personally do it for two reasons.
1. i don't need full tilt power
2. i don't really give a crap about 2.4ghz - If it wasn't for partners older laptop, i'd turn it off fully..
3. my home automation sits on a totally different AP and routed vlan.

Mesh nodes don't really have any branding on them. they are agnostic.
Same process to setup them.
It's not really broadcasted about this point, but you raise a great example of customer's seeing Spark and Skinny as basically the same. I'll speak to the team behind the device about clearing that up.
You can also pickup them from the spark website. Please don't try to order outside of the country though, some RSP's have the mesh nodes locked to their setups so you may be buying a brick :)

Yup. Know exactly what that will be.
It's been reported and is being worked on.

Hello. Do you have an estimate of when the update might be released, or if a beta might be available to test? Thanks.
Hi there. I asked on another post but it might be more appropriate to ask here. Currently Spark customer with UFB. If I upgrade my plan and sign on for another 12 months, do I receive the new Smart modem or is that only for new customers?

Last I checked, if your contract has ended, then you can get a free Smart Modem when you sign-up for another 24 month contract (or was it 12?). You just pay the shipping if need be. If you are still in a contract you can get one for 50% off. This was a couple of months ago.
If you are on the Spark Entertainment plan, because of Lightbox disappearing you have the right to cancel the contract. Cancel the contract and sign up for another term and get the free modem....
