This is why VodafoneNZ shut down it's email platform and Spark should do the same



I'd agree, even though I use xtra email.

people expect too much from their FREE email service.
God damn it, stop complaining about 2 or 3 spam emails getting through. There is NO perfect spam filter service.
blacklisting todays spammer will do NOTHING to stop next weeks spammer .



Get real .
Dont like your free email service. Then go to gmail and have your xtra email forwarded there.

Totally wrong. We pay Spark $104/month for a package of services which includes xtra email. It’s not free, they’re in business proving a service and we have every right to expect it to work properly. If you don’t want to use it, then don’t. We do.

If Spark decide to pull the pin on it, that’s their call. But so long as they provide it, it should be done properly.

the xtramail tier 2 folk end up handling alot of this (who also will get anything logged through the callcenter fyi.)

 

they do an amazing job, it's a rock in the hard place situation to balance for them.

 

 

 

I'm told there are further improvements on the horizon

Ermmm really , I pay for my spark service which includes an email address, If I want to complain I have every right to, not that I do as I have always had good service.

 

 

Fair enough. I like complaining as well.
But to expect near zero spams is Totally unrealistic and shows a disconnect from the real world.

Hi Troy

Could you please tell us what, if anything, we should be doing about/with this spam.

Should be be trying to blacklist them (you indicated earlier maybe it wasn’t a good idea)? Trying to blacklist them results in a message saying ‘this sender is already on your blacklist’.

And/or should we be trying to use the spam button? Does this actually do anything?

Does anything we try to do with it, apart from simply deleting it, achieve anything?

They are particularly grippy on getting those ones through... It's quite a pain.

 

 

 

I'll push this again on monday if i get a chance, otherwise will be tuesday 

 

As mentioned before i can't really detail how or why the filters work the way they do, as that could give the spammers another vector to try etc.
