mortiis33: I'm a longtime sufferer of Telecom, been with them since about 1990 and have dealt with
SO much mess with them right from the get-go.
freitasm:rossmnz: To be honest though, can we really set anything in stone based on what a telecom drone tells us?
First I know the person replied here and I can assure you he's not a drone. Also, remember we don't allow people calling names here.rossmnz: The small print tells us "all traffic is shaped(is Tivo shaped? apparently not?!!?? Why is national traffic shaped?), especially during peak hours. However, the OPs experience shows some traffic is shaped more than others.
Get over it. It's shapped. It's the plan. It's in the fineprint. If you don't like that plan, choose another plan. Tried other ISPs? Noticed how they all shape, in some cases it seems a lot more than Telecom?rossmnz: First there was the original go "all you can eat" plan back in the early 2000s and the(behind the customers back-"its a newer, faster plan")forced migration debarcle, then the Go Large failure and now this.
Telecom admitted the Go Large was a failure. They admited it was done in the wrong way. Whoever stayed on Go Large obviously saw a benefit anyway - as in downloading all you can eat, even if it's not at maximum speed. I mean, try getting 80GB or more on another ISP's plans to see how much you will pay for it.rossmnz: I would take anything telecom said with an extremely large grain of salt and double and triple check everything and write down names of who told you what.
This is valid for any company. I don't trust any large company. But not because of its people. They are not there to make your life hell. Communication within large companies tend to break. It's how it is. Tried the help desk at Vodafone lately? Or called TelstraClear to be put on hold for hours?rossmnz: In saying that Im with TC cable and so dont really give a crap!
I have to laugh. You are not even a Telecom customer and rant on this topic? You have no reason at all to be ranting about Big Time, since you have no first hand experience on this. Get over it.
Every time I read rantings from someone who doesn't have a reason to rant I just feel the pain those companies go through. They have to make happy people who don't want to be happy.

rossmnz: Yes, telecom have admitted Go Large was a failure. Has it stopped them using misleading advertising with this plan? No. It might be in the fine print that there is shaping involved, but the main advertising is misleading. Fact.
Big Time is a traffic-managed plan unlike any other in New Zealand. On this plan there are no data caps and no overage charges, it's just a broadband plan that lets everyone in the house use the Internet as often as they like - without paying a fortune for it.
However, because of this we manage all the traffic on Big Time. When the network is busy (generally inside the hours of 9am and 2am) you may noticed reduced speeds; in particular you are likely to see reduced speeds in relation to file sharing and online gaming.
- Brilliant for people who spend lots of time on the Internet
- You don't have to worry about going over your data cap or paying for overage
- Traffic managed.

The Views I have may not be those of my Employer and are my own
mortiis33: I specifically ASKED telecom when I signed up if Rapidshare was managed 'No,' the help time told me. That is what I am so pissed at. I mean, why lie?
My views are my own, and may not necessarily represent those of my employer.
