Of all the places in NZ with Maori names that New Zealanders would know, the marketing team at Telecom has to pick one which sounds like a place where you would have a "wee dram" while fishing. Looks like the guy that came up with the scribble will have somebody to have morning coffee with very soon.

Its all in the sim,

yesterday i tried to send a txt to an australian mobile # +6129*******) and the following error message came up "requested facility not implemented ". strange i thought so i rang telecom mobile help . they said they would look into it and would call me back . 5 hours later a call crom telecom help. "we have found the problem you have a version 1 sim and you will need to upgrade to a version 2 sim, this upgrade will solve this problem and several other issues you may have been having with the xt network "
has any body else been told that their sim is out of date ?

Australian mobile numbers (from my experience) usually start with 4 - that looks like a Sydney number.

And you should upgrade your SIM to version 2 anyway, it has a lot of improvements over version 1.

what i was trying to show was that if the user experience can be degraded by having an out of date sim . then those people would be unlikely to recomend xt as a good alternative . if the version of sim is so important then why has there not been an automatic update for existing users.
as aside to this the reason my txt wouldnt work is that i was trying to txt an australian land line not a mobile.
something the help desk didnt pick up on .

umm, Paul Reynolds is scottish (he isn't putting on the accent you know), so going to a scottish sounding place in NZ makes perfect sense.

It's been said before that some people try their absolute best to find something to complain about, especially when it comes to Telecom.

But this really, truly, takes the cake. To even consider that Telecom would shoot an ad about XT in England defies belief.
