Will be interesting to see how my Fritz 7490 performs.

cant recall the exact numbers, but the 7390 will not quite manage gbit speeds very well.

definitely the move up to the 7490 is a good one. That device is more than capable of preforming at gbit speeds with ease.

Hmmm. After first being only moved to the 200/20 plan when requested MAX, all is sorted and moved onto 900/400 today...

Time to let the tinkering begin, as this is the fastest speed test to day.

I know this is plenty fast enough, im only wanting more to stroke my own ego...

How are you testing, Through Ethernet or Wireless?

What RWG do you use?

Could you try on another device to cut out the chance of that device being under-powered for gbit performance?

Lastly, i would recommend using http://beta.speedtest.net/ the overhead there is slightly ligher which for many reasons will give you a more realistic max speedtest.

You need wired to get more than that. Device Wi-Fi hardware so far can't support much faster

Testing through Ethernet, PC straight into the HG659B, I have two other Laptops on Ethernet, one is ether through USB and the other is only 100mb capable....

getting the same speeds off my Xclaim Xi-3 for the iphone6s and SGS7 Edge

PC isn't exactly new, rather old to be honest, assumed it would be fine though.Specs below

i'd expect that to be able to handle it, Although YMMV. If i go bashing my 3770K to all hell, it wont preform the best ;) your looks a little toasty there already to be idling.

Do not trust wireless for testing although that particular model is one of the newer RWG spark do. 3x3 AC and all.

Having personally tested that device(using 5G AC 2x2), on a test line. i would say it preforms pretty well for gbit.

That's a very old hardware ... may not be able to do 900/400. Do you have anything newer?

Well with $15 spent on a new network card, and some new thermal paste to reset CPU cooler after a good clean, at 3:20pm in the arvo I am happy with this kind of result off my 9 year old rig haha

That's a huge improvement :-) Out if interest can you confirm the network card you added in please? And apart from that and the new thermal paste on the CPU - did you change anything else?

(Looks like a textbook case of unexpectedly underpowered NIC)

:) I bought a new router and my i-devices after a tweak of the router would only get a third of the speed. windows devices were ok. i kept blaming the router's "buggy" firmware (well if you keep reading the internet you get biased ideas out of nowhere) ... then on one i-device i had to reset the thing and it was fine. the other i-device it came down to - i needed to uninstall speedtest app and reinstall speedtest app!

The TPLink TG-3468 and thermal paste is the only change, same cables, same modem (HG659B).

Quick and cheap fix to get a huge increase, makes me happy I moved on up to this plan..... Now to find a use for this kind of speed haha
