Is anyone who has one of these able to confirm the TAC (first eight digits of the IMEI)? I'd want to use with multiple carrier sims (here & overseas) so interested in which frequencies this device variant supports.

EDIT: Sorry, this is for the B618

Currently on Skinny 120GB service. Address checker shows 240GB services is not available at my address. I have contacted both Skinny and Spark to confirm and they say definitely not available. Skinny state " This is due to cell tower capacity in your area and I'm afraid there is no way for us to fast track this" however....

I'm in Martinborough and my understanding is we have a single tower that serves the town. gis.geek.nz shows the tower in the center of town, with one a few km north.Spark website shows 4.5G available in Martinborough. Currently have external aerials set up pointing to the tower in the middle of town that I assume the 240Gb service is also provided from. My mobile service is also with Skinny and 4G is provided by this tower. Tower is approximately 1.5km away.

If I choose an address about 500 metres from where I am, between me and the tower, and put it into the address checker it says the 240GB service is available to them. So, if the service is available to them does this mean there is in fact capacity in our area?

Some questions:

  • Is this a distance limitation of 4.5G? Using the address checkers, there seems to be a line through town from which point the service is not available.
  • If not a distance limitation, why would the service be available to others off the same tower?
  • How are the areas used by the address checkers defined? Contacting Spark I'm not sure they looked any deeper other than using the basic checker and seeing the service is not available. Skinny spent a bit more time but came back with the response above.

Thanks,

Dan

For the 240GB plan, you need to be in range of the Ultra coverage.

i know this was updated on the spark side of things to define the two different constraints but unsure about the skinny side - I'll try to speak to folk over there tomorrow.

if our guys have already checked it out in detail, there is very little i can do to sway the odds for you.

The coverage is designed in a way that it doesn't negatively affect those further out from the tower.

4.5G is not inherently required for the 240GB plan.

Spark has far better RBI plans than vodafone .
I do not know why vodafone has fallen so far. Behind .
I have vodafone RBI and if I was not under contract I would change.
3 months ago after 3 years with vodafone my modem failed , I was a week without internet and had to drive 3 hours to shop to get a new modem .
Then I was told they would only supply me with a new one if I signed a new contract.
I should never have signed , I should have been internet free for another week and signed with spark .
