@hio77 - Oh Dear - Huston we have a problem, again. A BIGGER stick ๐ฎ might be needed ๐
Angie <info@e.spark.co.nz>
let's go on a date on Valentine's Day!
PS: @freitasm I like the new emoji picker
I have received the spam from Angie too.
<snip> I did see something on FB about this recently. My initial impression was that the sender of the spam has done something like putting the info@ address as the sender name, with some bogus address hidden in the From header, e.g. "From: info[at]e.spark.co.nz <some.fake.email.address[at]some.provider>"
(Edit due to reading more of the discussion)

So what is this e.spark thing and why cant they just block that domain?
I wouldn't have a clue about the signigicance of the "e.spark" subdomain thingy, perhaps the sender/bot/whatever is trying to be clever or doing something in the nature of tracking. All the legitimate emails I've had from spark have managed to arrive with out the "e." at the start, and most have arrived via outlook.com servers.

This a repeat
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
So instead of nil or a decrease in this spam, as reported previously in this topic, I am now getting an increase and in multiples, in a space of hours. Yesterday was 3 in space of 4 hours, today 3 in 6 hours and I am now also starting to get repeats.
No offence to @hio77 of these forums who has done his mightiest to help out in this and I can not fault his dedication to trying to solve this issue but SPARK is coming across as NOT HAVING A CLUE in how to solve this issue. The crooks appear to have more and better talent than Spark.
I wonder if I should go to the "Telecommunications Dispute Resolution (TDR)” or “The Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA” as ‘Service’ not being fit for purposeโ or both ??

Yep.
You'll get your $0 refund for your Free email a/c
:-)
" but SPARK is coming across as NOT HAVING A CLUE in how to solve this issue"
Spark arnt hosting your email.
SMX is .
Thats still not going to help you though, but my guess is Spark are now stuck in the middle trying to get this sorted .

What some people have done is setup a gmail email a/c, and forward all the xtra emals to gmail.
Gmail's spam filter works and should filter most of it out (most, not all)

Thank you for the update. I actually did not expect a reply as I know you are just as frustrated as us end users
Thank you again

This is now the most I have received in a 24 hour period (4 in 7 hours this lot) and they are repeats with just a wee subject line change.

It is as if they are reading this forum topic and saying "ok we will up the ante"

@ee.spark.co.nz
Its mind boggling that the spam filter is so poor that it cant block this fake domain , fake email adress .
I have to ask, since I cant believe SMX's service is so bad. (we dont seem to hear of issues from their other paying clients)
Did Spark contract a special low cost deal with reduced levels of filtering & support
Serious question, not just trolling
If this is as good as its going to be (and it seems so, how many months of issues) , Spark needs to just say so .
btw, Im actually happy with my @xtra service , not perfect but what is. Others perhaps need to have an official statement from Spark resetting expectations ?
Its better than it was with yahoo (for me)
