Ok folks, I have done all I can do for this evening, those couple of people still awaiting resolution will be worked on in the morning.

The feedback I have had is that the backlog of provisioning is clearing so hopefully this is the tail end of it now.

Enjoy your Saturday night!

This is a repost from the other XT forum so I have covered everybody.

Finally 48 hours later and 5 calls to 123 its working

I'm spending long weekend in Northland, Vodafone coverage here is just awful, XT device is connecting better than Vodafone, but still not great, getting 2 bars (in the right spot) keeps changing from UTMS to HSPUA ??

For population I guess in low thousands here in Ruakaka, I am still thoroughly disappointed

97% population coverage seems like complete marketing BS along with 99% uptime

it will idle in UMTS then switch to HSDPA or HSUPA as required - most/all devices do this

I have been stalking these forums for a while but final joined up so I can vent my frustrations :)

I have been waiting since 1pm on Friday (which is 50+ hours by my calculations) for my number to be swapped from my CDMA to Sim. I was told it would be activated within two hours when I left the store.

CDMA phone stopped working Saturday about 11am.

First call to telecom at midday Saturday I was told they were "researching it" and would fix it shortly.

Second call 8pm Saturday, I was told there was an error with my Sim and I needed to take it back to the store (store is closed Saturday and Sunday here).

Third call at 1pm Sunday just to try my luck while I wait for store to open, I am put through to someone who helps me out! He tells me that I don?t in fact need to go into store and that a reset should fix it. Reset doesn?t work so I was transferred and she mentions that two text messages are blocking service or something along those lines, and gives me the cell phone numbers and times they were sent and tells me they have to be deleted. This doesn?t fix the problem so she is going to call me in 15 minutes or so with another solution.

This is a love/hate relationship..

Still not connected. Bought pre pay XT sim 12pm Friday and completed number porting form.

Finally had a call from someone at Telecom today (thanks for organising that Karen), but unfortunately that was were the good news ended.

It appears that my number will not be ported and my XT sim activated until Wednesday at the earliest and perhaps not until Friday. The reasons given were the huge demand, the long weekend and the time it takes vodafone to do the change over.

Now I can understand it might take vodafone longer to do their part considering the increased numbers of people wanting to port (and why would they commit more staff to make this happen quicker), but I don't think the huge demand is a valid excuse. Surely they are not going to tell me that no one ever considered the possibility of this number of people wanting to join in the beginning???? Also I did hear they were having some IT issues and had to reload a number of the requests manually (but cant confirm this).

I know there are a lot of people working hard to make sure everything gets done, but 5-7 days to get it sorted is far too long!!!

I am a pretty reasonable person, but I am getting a bit frustrated with the situation.

Most of the country lives in Auckland, Wellingotn Chch etc.
Its not 97% of the country thats covered, just where 97% where people live. Telecom weren't lying

Was it not clear what I wrote? "97% population coverage"!

Anyway this a stunning day here in Bream bay coverage has improved, I am curious though how much is weather conditions likely to effect the network

10pm last night my datacard could not even see the XT network, but could see Vodafone 2G, this morning getting 2 bars coverage, and has been working solidly for over half and hour

Perhaps they are fine tuning the network now there are customers on it?

Don't go blaming Vodafone for a delay in your XT SIM getting activated a port out request of MSISDN is a automated process and takes very little time

The current time expectation we have for a port over like that is 4 days. That is entirely due at the moment to the demand we have and the long weekend in the middle of it.

I'm sorry its not happening instantly, I wish it was!
But we are trying to get through them as quickly as possible.

I was not blaming Vodafone, merely repeating what the telecom CSR told me.  I did not realise that the process was automated....which begs the question (or two) why was the process not started when the dealer entered my details for the port into the system when I bought the SIM card? and Why did the telecom CSR have the info/intelligence to realise they could have sorted the issue out for me over the phone (ie start the automated process) rather than telling me I had to wait.....

I must admit that when i ported the number over the vodafone a while ago (to use the iphone) the process was via an online form and very quick and painless.

I will let due process follow its course and hope that I might get connected tomorrow or wednesday (4 or 5 days)

So what's the story with number porting? I'm trying to port across my VF number and I was told on launch day that I needed to come back Tuesday. Only to be told again this morning they can't do it and I'll have to come back tomorrow..

Is it a Telecom owned store or an Orb/Leading Edge/Other?
