Hmm, I can do it using other applications, but I was talking about the functionality within PC Suite. It just says Cannot send text message or something... or is smssync a part of the Nokia PC Suite?
Hey Aloha – tell us more about “smssync” – Google can’t find it for me.
I too have been frustrated by the “send text messages” icon in PC Suite never working – why do Nokia put this in the package? It has not worked on any of the Nokia phones I have had – they all are CDMA though, maybe this is yet another GSM only feature?
smssync is part of the PCSuite sw, when I tried to send sms, first it asked me to install this application and then it just worked. I can send sms from PCSuite using a GSM mobile.
Well – on my 6255, I type my text message into PC Suite vn 6.7, click on send, and it asks me to “select the phone I want use”, but the window shows my only phone grayed out… so will not let me select it.
I assume it is either that it does not work on Bluetooth connections, or that PC suite cannot send txt messages to a 6255, or maybe not to any CDMA phone.
I click on help, and nothing happens – so no information from Nokia on the problem.
- I am sure earlier versions of PC Suite would let you go further, then just fail with an error something like “you cannot send messages to this phone”.
If the phone symbol is gray, it means you have problem with your BT connection. You have to check if every feature is set properly, all COM ports are available, etc..
Or if nobody can send txt from their 6255, then it's a common problem, however the PCSuite clearly states to send messages you need a compatible Nokia phone... maybe the 6255 is not compatible?? :) Then buy a 6680! :)

The Bluetooth connection works great for everything else from PC Suite (calendar/contacts sync, file copying etc) so I doubt if that is a problem. I guess what I am asking is – has anyone else ever been able to SMS through PC Suite to a CDMA phone?
I don’t know what a 6680 is, but I kinda doubt if I would dump a $600 plus investment into my really neat 6255 just to be able to SMS from a PC, especially if it involves switching provider.
What is strange is that Nokia say PC Suite 6.7 is suitable for a 6255, and lets me type SMS messages, but just greys out the phone connection so I can’t send it – no explanation why.
