If you'd like to be one of our first residential customers (we've got a number of VDSL business customers which we'll be moving to UFB straight away) send me a PM and we can work something out.

All going well, we go live with UFB in May.

This is great to know, and good luck. I hope you do well as it appears Tauranga needs more competition. I'm not sure I can wait until May but thanks for the offer.

Telecom Ultra Fibre will be available to customers in the Chorus footprint initially due to the fact they’re by far the largest UFB partner with nearly 70% of the UFB market. The existing Chorus footprint where Telecom Ultra Fibre will be available covers parts of Auckland as well as Blenheim, Dunedin, Hastings, Levin, Napier, Nelson, Palmerston North, Queenstown, Rotorua, Timaru and Wellington. Ashburton, Masterton, Taupo and Invercargill can expect Ultra Fibre within the next few months, with further regions in line with Chorus’ roll-out plans.

I'm not sure what it means about being "in line with Chorus' plans". I'm in Whakatane, fibre is being rolled out by Chorus, and there are already several streets that seem to be complete. Yet there's no mention of Whakatane in that list...

Edit: With that said, I'm not complaining about the pricing etc. I'd sign up tomorrow if I could.

Plans are disappointing. Hopefully the masses shop around, and Snap/Orcon/Whoever else markets enough to make people aware of what else is out there.

Was hoping that the plans were going to be more competitive and cause other providers to beef up their offerings too

And on the note of VDSL:
"@TelecomNZ @yakmoose no plans to launch VDSL yet, but we know it's of interest to our customers so we'll keep everyone updated with any plans! ^HM"

Are you saying Orcon offer atrocious performance because they have an unlimited plan?

Well no real reason to move from current solid ADSL2+ service despite being in a UFB area and ready to roll. Not keen on other ISP's at the moment either and cost of changing services that use copper (alarm etc) at the moment out weigh the benefits.

If the plans were more appealing then I would move.

Connecting to UFB? Go with Bigpipe and use this link for free credit!

Probably just an oversight. I'll ask the PR team working on it if there was a reason for it but they are all now at the public press release.

That is a positive. I'm glad they won't be offering small businesses a 30/10 plan. Waste of time.

We have 130 odd users on a 30/30 plan, no one ever complains of slow net.

Does anyone know what will happen with overage? Will there still be the choice like in the ADSL plans of slow down or data packs?
