Demeter:
l43a2: why is it that they know we want data they add the least of that possible and add pointless crap like minutes?

Because data is a finite resource, minutes/texts are not.

Funny how things change. In 2002 it was impossible to get a plan with a decent number of texts and minutes unless you wanted to pay a fortune. Now, it's much better - but I bet a lot less texts are sent than 2002-2005.

Back in those day's $0.20 per text you wouldn't waste a text saying ''k'' or ''hey''

You what I'd love to see, either Vodafone or Telecom come out with something called 'The Rich Prick Pack" where for $500 incl. GST they can get unlimited text, voice and data - I'd just love to see for the hell of it how many people would sign up for it.

Back on topic, my account was updated to the new $39 package - I have to admit I'd sooner swap some of the voice for more data; if I could trade in voice (say 200 minutes) and I was able to gain 250MB of data then I'd be a happy lad. Even though my mobile is my primary means of communication I never even hit 100 minutes per month - most of the time I'm either ringing 0800 numbers or the calls are so short they barely use any of the allotted time.
