woody53: Its not been a great launch has it? The coverage is worse than the old system...It keeps dropping calls...nice phones but the whole deal should be an improvement. If you cant make a call all you can do is play games.

Why oh why promise and not deliver?

Care to give us some examples? I've heard nothing but good things being said about the coverage and quality of calls.

They have delivered. Unfortunately, there will always be some teething problems when a new network starts. For the most part, it has been a very successful launch. There have been a few users on GZ who have had issues also, but the helpful Telecom on here have been trying to assist them. Ever thought about asking them too?

You havent specified other relevant information. What phone do you have, perhaps its faulty? What area are you making calls from? What areas are the people youre calling from? Have you called Telecom to investigate it for you? Have you asked if Tier 2 or CTS can further assist your issue? Have you called into your local Telecom shop to discuss further?

I don't have a CDMA phone, but am getting better data coverage from the XT network. My el cheapo R6 phone will give me 1.5 Mbps download speed where my CDMA datacard doesn't even get a signal.

Still not working, only had time to send an email to the reseller this morning asking whats up, no reply yet.. I don't really want to spend another day chasing it up. Looks like telecom is going to beat vodafone at the stuffing up porting process in terms of time, both in the amount I'm wasting and the length of time taken to sort it out.

Anyone from either company frequent these forums? I'd like to hear their opinions, surely if things are getting stuffed up this badly then it must be utter chaos in the call centers.

It's good to see mine isn't an isolated case, how did everyone else get their issues sorted?

EDIT: Yay it's going, guess if 2degrees offer better pricing I'll be porting again soon, I wonder if it will be a disaster again...

@karenmonksnz can you give us an idea of how long it is taking on average for ports from Vodafone to XT to happen? I am waiting on one now but don't want to have unrealistic expectations.

Hey,
My last word from provisioning was it could take up to 4 days to do. I beleive things have calmed down though and they are going through faster than that. If your concerned though, drop me a message.

Personally I would say that the coverage is *slightly* worse. My house is tucked away behind a hill and my CDMA phone would work next to the computer, whereas my XT phone needs to sit about a metre closer to the door. I was worried that I might not get XT coverage at all, but I'm not complaining :) ... or at least I won't be once my account issues are sorted out.

I would carry both just in case! Better safe than sorry. My phone just transferred quicker than I expected it to. I only realised when the new one rang!!

After all the drama at launch getting my wifes phone sorted, I ordered a MF636 through my business telecom account earlier this week, today it hadn't arrived so rang to find the tracking number only to discover that for some reason there has been some issue with the order (at telecoms end) and it hadn't been dispatched.

Interesting that the person at telecom (who i've got to say was very helpful) was still blaming the rush of people signing up as the reason for it not being dispatched, surely 2 weeks on from launch these problems should be sorted.

I was promised a call back to let me know what was happening, 4 hours on and still waiting .........

I must be cursed

I had the same issue and was advised by Telecom to pick up a phone from a retail store. I did so and had it all up and running by the next morning.

And I'm OK with picking up from a retail store, but at the time I rang them they said I would have it the following day or today at the latest .... now they're not talking to me at all so what to do?
