If you are in an apartment its possible the filter was installed into the MDF (if the building has one), and since you had no existing phone number the cable was reused for the VDSL socket only.
You're best to get a technician out to look at it if you don't know exactly where the cable goes or where the filter is. Were you home when they did the install?
pinkydot: Just wondering the TG589vn bridge to a wireless router.\
If the wireless router reboot itself will it affect the DLM?

jeffnz: Thought I'd give my experience of VDSL installation process. Did a very small amount of reading last Friday and decided on VDSL as my connection here is slow, no I don't have master filter.
Logged into 'my telecom'and went to chat, chatted to a person about what when and how and was told if I was interested they would sort a çall back'. Had a ring an hour later and was singed up after a short period of time. Booked installation for today and organised pickup of VDSL modem as I am not normally at home.
Got a text letting me know what was happening and also email notification. Was told to be home today as not sure when tech would arrive. About 9:30 this morning 2 techs arrived, very polite and well presented, an hour later all hooked up and was informed that would take about 1-2 hours for telco (Telecom) to switch on.
Got home about an hour ago and its working well and very pleased with speed over what I had so thanks Telecom and Chorus you did a great job.

What sort of speed are you getting now? Would you mind to do a speed test and post modem stats?

The views expressed by me are not necessarily those of my employer Chorus NZ Ltd
jeffnz: sure, excuse the noobness but what do I use to get the test and stats
speedtest not sure if right one
littleheaven: Telnet to your modem and look up the stats. I'm repeating advice I was given on how to do it:
stitch:To enable telnet go to control panel, programs and features, turn windows features on or off, enable Telnet from the list. Open a command prompt, type telnet 192.168.1.254 enter
Put username and password. Once logged on type xdsl info expand=enabled
And once you've done that, compare to table below, which I have copied from a previous post (thanks for providing, Amosnz).
DLM-1 1ms 0INP
DLM-2 8ms 0INP
DLM-4 8ms 1INP
DLM-6 8ms 2INP
DLM-3 16ms 0INP
DLM-5 16ms 1INP
DLM-7 16ms 2INP
DLM-8 16ms 4INP
