cbrpilot: Status page says the usage meter will be back into life some time this week. Translation: probably closer to Friday than today. In the mean time, sit back, have another beer, do not worry.

And hope our usage will be correct from now on?

Fair call. I think Telecom will be sufficiently embarrassed by this incident to increase its level of testing prior to making this sort of change again.

My views are my own, and may not necessarily represent those of my employer.

Not a great couple of months for Telecom, maybe all this will make them finally realize they need to pull their sh*t together? Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up

i dont care how they stuff things up -
so long as they lower their broadband prices in line with the competition i'd be happy!
FOR EXAMPLE TNBT(SS) #3 is awesome!

Caps are the problem now, not speed.

I can use up my entire months data (20gb) in just 3 hours.

Just had a look at the 'recent activity' link on the my telecom page, and the usage states 4413 MB for this new billing cycle. Started on the 15th. Whereas we've only used 3800 MB... But I guess we just wait till they've sussed it completely.

Speed is the problem, there is no way you could get that much porn on dial up.

Not sure if I should be starting my own thread on this, but are the issues with the usage meter affecting just landlines? I ask because on 7th December I moved my iPhone 3GS over to Telecom from Vodafone and signed up for the 120MB data extra. According to the usage meter after 10 days I'm now sitting at nearly 119MB.

Summary of Usage
Total Usage: 118.9 MB
Daily Usage:
Date:          Total Usage:
16 Dec 2009 14.2 MB
15 Dec 2009 7.3 MB
14 Dec 2009 16.9 MB
13 Dec 2009 10.4 MB
12 Dec 2009 28.1 MB
11 Dec 2009 3.4 MB
10 Dec 2009 3.3 MB
09 Dec 2009 3.2 MB
08 Dec 2009 26.4 MB
07 Dec 2009 5.6 MB

Pretty much all of last week I was at home connected to my wi-fi network, I've done a total of 22 tests to cell sites on the Speetest.net app, and a little bit of usage of Tweetie, Facebook, weather updates, Maps to check the speed of getting a GPS fix a few times but not using it for directions - surely that doesn't equate to 119MB!

The thing is is that I am not using my phone any differently at all than when I was on Vodafone, yet I would struggle to even get to 100MB a month with them.

I haven't contacted them yet to query it but wanted to check what people on here think about it first.

interesting that you experienced the same as i did . let me explain.
back in june i changed to a nokia e71 on xt with the 240mb plan. regular checking of the daily data usage didnt line up with the times i used data or the quantity, i queried this with xt and didnt get a plausable answer. i was convinced i was getting charged for some one elses data not mine . when i was on cdma with a htc titan my dyata usage lined up with the actual usage times   sweet. change to xt and complete shambles, a was aparently consuming nearly all of my 240mb in a month . any way the e71 couldnt access wap which is nessesary for my work  so i sent the phone back and got a blackberry bold .the blackberry has its own data plan which i understand is encrypted and compressed. so i have 400mb data limit but find i rairly go over 100mb ( youtube, internet , maps songs, email with large attachments and despite all this i have never got close to 400mb limit.
i think that due to the way the blackberry system works telecom cant fudge the data usage   but it certainy looks like ordinary xt data users are being charged for data they are not using .
as corksta has said how can he be using data when his phone isnt even turned on .

I keep getting told its "under maintenance". It ain't maintenance if its an error your trying to restore. But this has been what, 2 weeks at least now? Maybe more i think. IDK. Think we'll get an apology? lol
