a friend has a Macbook and for a few days has been unable to send emails unless she does it via Yahoo.  She's phoned telecom and they say it's an apple issue.  Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Sounds odd to me. It will be a setting in her mail program for outgoing server.

Hmmm - but seems odd if she hasn't changed anything?

Is she using Apple's Mail application to send emails out? if yes then use "connection doctor" tool from menu to diagnose details of the issue.

Maybe a few questions to ask.

Have they done any updates to Apple recently? Have they played with the settings at all? I have a macbook and I use Yahoo!Xtra mail through my mail application and I have been able to send/receive emails within the past couple of days so I doubt it's a widespread Apple issue.

Like @xpd has asked - any error messages (if any) would help too please.
