I am churning from Slingshot VDSL to Telecom VDSL due to the frequent lockups I had with the supplied modem (a known firmware issue with no ETA on a fix).

I am not sure if the lockups dropped sync but they required a reboot and I am concerned the frequency of these during the first 10 days would have had a negative impact on my initial DLM tuning phase.

Will I go through the initial phase again when I churn? If not is it something I can request?

The rep I spoke to when I signed up understood what I was asking but was unsure.

Any advice appreciated.

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

 



 

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

while im not sure switching isps to change modems was the simplest move to make, pretty sure because of the way vdsl connections are configured, your port would essentially be reset.

you can always simply ask them to do a port reset to insure this has happened though..

it does, but the slingshot modem, with its reliability, i certainly would recommend a reset..


DLM after the 10day period slows right down, which can lead to months to get back to DLM-1 depending on your current profile.

I did the very same thing.

Went from Telecom VDSL to Vodafone VDSL, Chorus managed to stuff up the churn and ended up being put back onto ADSL...  
After a long call to Vodafone to get it rectified, 3 days later early Monday morning we were back on VDSL. Same Sync rates as before and connection been rock solid ever since. I'm just hoping the DLM does its thing in the next couple of weeks and puts us back onto DLM-1
