Hoping for some reassurance or explanation of whats gone wrong but here it is :
Was on Telecom adsl2 plan using Netgear 834GT modem - getting connection speeds in the 14 to 16 Mb but noticed in the last few months slower then stuttering video.(Using Cat 6 wired connections all around house with central splitter).
Ookla speedtest would give me between 11 and 14 Mb/s down and just 980Kb up
I rang Telecom and complained - they confirmed no change of plan at their end. Downstream line attenuation was around 16 so i thought bugger it I will ask for vdsl
Today the Chorus engineer popped in (nice guy by the way) checked my splitter and reconnected the twisted pair just in case but this is what i got :
Using the Telecom Huawei HG630B modem

So connecting at maybe 3 - 4 Mb/s higher than adsl2 but then if I try a speedtest I get a terrible down which is lower than my up !
My ping has gone from 6 to 20 !( There goes BF4 performance)
Here is the performance drop as indicated by Ookla speedtest

and here is my latest speedtest

I know the wiring in the house is sound - I thought I was just 481m to the local exchange but when i asked the Chorus tech he said I was cabinetised which means i have no idea how far to give as an estimate of what I expected from vdsl but it surely was more than this !
Suggestions ? I know i am supposed to wait 10 days to let it settle but this seems just terrible.I will be asking for the old adsl2 plan back shortly
Aaaargh this is not going to go down well with spouse
Help me Obi Wan!!!!
