Looks like we're having trouble in Auckland as well. Currently with a customer on a VDSL connection with issues that appear to be DNS related. Will check it out and log a fault shortly once we get to that part of the job.

I see no reply from Pings from a Telecom VDSL connection in West Auckland.

DNS resolution works intermittently.

Hmmphh looks like I edited my post out of existence.

Intermittent dns weirdness on VDSL is still happening to random sites, google, geekzone, stuff, nzherald.

Must be my cue for lunch...

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Most likely your CPE has cached DNS entries... Try some site you never visited before.

Also having issues with VDSL in Auckland.  When using Google DNS (or UnoTelly) seems to work fine. Otherwise random slow, unavailable websites and email issues.

Let's get fixed Telecom NZ.

tigercorp: Telecom's dns servers don't reply to ping - http://help.telecom.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/1274/~/what-are-telecoms-dns-servers%3F

Good to know, however DNS resolution is intermittent, which I suspect is the issue.

Load issue?

That  would account for some sites at work  giving a not found message  or real slow to load.

Chrome is really good for that - you can see it stuck on "Resolving Host" in the status bar.

Hi, sorry for the interruption with DNS, the issues are resolved now, you can revert to using the Xtra DNS servers.

It was the transparent cache in the pairing room with a krone tool. ;-)
